Definitely go with whatever is cheapest then, that's a huge factor in my tire buying decision process. Another thing to consider is how wide your wheels are. Tires have a range of wheel width they can be mounted on, and 12.5 wides need a minimum of 8.5" wide wheel for most tires.

285/75/17s meezures 33.5in tall on my 9in wide rim. Don’t know what ya taking bout OP. If your worried about a fraction of a inch might as well get 315s (baby 35s) or legit 35s.:burp:

That’s why I was asking. Before I pull the trigger to save money I was wondering if anyone has run them. I would hate to ‘save money’ to later have to buy skinnier tires.

Well what are you looking to learn here? Anyone can run any tire (within reason) if they know what equipment is needed as well as the work needed to clear them. Is that what you're asking?

Yup! I figure most guys with a 2.5” lift and 4.5” backspacing should be able to run them, but I figured I’d ask if anyone has.

Gotcha. Well yes, with those specs and some trimming you'll be alright. You'll need a cab mount chop, hammer the pinch weld flat and cut some plastic out of the way but that's easy. No way around that though, you'll rub hard if you don't.

I should point out that my explanation for what a real 33 is was only to keep the guys from chiming in that think they have 33s.
