I'm going to assume that you are ignorant to tire sizing with your questions. There is no such thing as a true 33" tire. All tire sizes are nominal. Meaning it could be 32" or 34" without being mounted or aired up and those numbers get even crazier depending on the width of the wheel you mount it on. You mount your 33 on a 12" wide wheel and it will probably be an inch shorter than if you mounted it on an 8" wide wheel. Let's make this even crazier by stating that there is no authority that will determine the size. Think of it like shoe sizes that you may be a 10 in And1, but when you got your Ozark Trails they were a 11.5. Using the metric measurements are a way that the tire companies can make tire sizing globally. You see outside of the good Ole US of A they use the metric system. Of course this does get all confusing when you tell someone that their tread width is measured in MM, but the wheel diameter is still measured in inches. You have to do a little math.

It is crazy and hard to understand, but the great thing is there are plenty of websites that will help you with the calculations. That will at least get you close. Then you are just at the mercy of the manufacturers for actual sizing.
