Forgive me if there is a thread for this. I used the search function but couldn't find anything.

So I have discovered that the feature I would really like is the 110v in the bed. I ended up having to travel to my childhood home shortly after purchasing our Tacoma due to it burning down. We were doing a lot of clean up and I was having to recharge the cordless tools. I had brought an inverter with me but kept thinking that bed outlet would have been nice.

I'm just wondering if anyone has done this as a DIY and if so if they could provide some pointers.

    Thanks in advance.

No idea about adding it to the SR5, but you have to have the truck running to use the factory one, I guess maybe you could recharge your tools on the drive to where you need them.

Thanks for the info, I hadn't researched it enough to know that it only worked when the truck was running.

I was just parked in one spot for the entire weekend. So I guess just hooking up the inverter to the battery was probably a better option anyway. I did start it up every now and then to make sure I was recharging the battery. I would have just liked to have been able to have the chargers and batteries in the back rather than have the hood up and all the chargers on the ground.

I have read that the stock bed outlet has a relatively low power output.

Maybe invest in a decent inverter generator.

I bought a Honda a few years back-

It is portable, will really come in handy in an emergency, is very reliable, and has good resale value if you decide you don't need it.

    Just my $.02

I was responding to your thread and posted this in another thread by mistake. Lol

Thanks. A generator might be the way to go. I was just trying to cut down on stuff I have to intentionally remember to take with me.
