Has anyone added a second USB connector to the stock radio?

I have a stock 2012 DBL Cab and it has the USB/AUX in the dash below the heater controls.

It is nice to use but it really annoys me that my cable and IPOD are taking up the center console pocket. I have that stupid pocket just to the right of my steering column that I would like to add a second port to. That way I can keep my IPOD out of direct view, without cables hanging out and still easily accessible.

Is there a way to add a second USB to the first? Is the output on the back of the radio a standard USB where I could just add a splitter and add the second plug or is there a certain amount of cutting and modification involved?

I can't be the only person trying to keep my center console clutter and spaghetti free (without wires everywhere).

I read a million posts about how to add one port... but I already have one and I would rather have one tucked away too.

    Anyone?

That might be tricky. It is not easy to splice into a USB line (at least not something that I would attempt.) There are splitters available, but the only way I can see that work is if you pull your existing USB out, tuck it in somewhere behind the dash, plug a splitter into it and then route from the splitter one new USB to the old location and another one to the new location.

:) Or use this and add ports at every cup holder and cubby in the truck.

So does the splitter just plug into the back of the radio? Where is the thread that shows you how to remove the radio?

My usb comes from the CD1 on the back of the oem radio going to GROM audio box that has ipod/aux/usb coming off it. The ipod and 3.5mm aux cables are in the glove box and the usb is routed to the dash panel under the driver side AC vent. I have the older dash where it doesn't have the connections under the AC panel, just 2 cig lighter holes. If you use one of those splitters then you could route it up to that dash panel if you don't already have something there. Mine is prerunner so it was blank. Here is pic, you can see flash drive plugged in on driver's side..............
