Has anyone been able to swap the "next song" button with "higher volume"?

I hate that the "Next song" button is on the up button instead of the right button. Has anyone been able to swap them?

Nah. It’s been discussed here a lot. There’s lots of strong feelings about it both ways. Intelligent people have looked into it and since the buttons are on a printed board it’s not a simple task.
The easiest way to change the button operations is with an aftermarket head unit using something called maestro, which allows you to program the steering wheel controls’ output

I really don't see the problem. The volume is used more for me and it's easier to sweep my thumb side to side without moving my hand on the wheel. It's much harder to move my thumb up and down.

Volume up, push the up button. Volume down, push the down button. Toyota has been inconsistent on this as my wife’s car had it Volume up right button and volume down left button.

Nor do I, but it's TW 3rd gen, so we scratch for itches, fix shit that ain't broke, and nuke electrical systems with silly LED light experiments.

I sold my 3rd gen just for this reason!

Just kidding, but this feature was annoying to say the least. Honda got it right with their steering wheel controls. Not sure why Toyota designed this so backwards.

As soon as I saw this thread, I could relate. I completely despise those buttons. Completely backwards! Like Toyota didn't consult the common man on this and the decision to lay out those buttons came out of some convoluted study or something. I WILL figure out a way to swap the button functions even if it means me laying out my own PCB board.

Volume is UP AND DOWN. Seek is LEFT AND RIGHT. why reinvent the wheel. Man why does this get me so worked up! Haha

Has anyone taken the steering wheel cover off yet? How easy is that? Maybe it's possible to just rotate the button 90 degrees?

I mean, I said they did
    But here is the post
That solution is always floated, but if you rotated the controls 90 degrees to the left so that volume was oriented correctly, it would leave skip forward on the left and skip backward on the right which would be infinitely worse than the current layout imo

Wouldn't the Seek buttons be backwards that way?

Oh man, missed that! A replacement pcb and button with the rearranged symbols would be so slick
