Just curious if anyone has purchased the bed extender. If you have, how do you like it?

Thinking about it for when I have my dirt bike in the back. That way I don't have to tie everything down. ramp, gas, stand ect.

I am thinking about buying one too. Just curious from those who have one on how much they use it.

I bought the bed extender. It's the same as last years model. It's also the same as the AMP research aftermarket. If you do some quick internet searches, you'll find numerous positive reviews. It's very light weight, durable, and easy to remove. It's quite handy, both for adding cargo capacity and when folded in, it makes a nice small compartment for keeping cargo from moving around.

I don't see how a bed extender can be bad. It stays out of the way for large items and provides a storage area for smaller items one does not want to carry behind the front seats. My back seats stay down so I would have less of a use for it to carry anything more than would fit in the back seats when down. But I can see its worth for longer items. I am considering the one that is more of a square

The bed extender I had with my 1st gen was larger than the one that came on my 2nd gen. I prefer the larger size for groceries since I have a reg cab. The extender on my 2nd gen tapers on the sides. I would still recommend getting one.

When you say its the same as last years model, do you mean the general design/size or the exact same model/part number?

I would suggest buying it aftermarket. mine came with the truck and it was over priced as a line item on the MSRP sticker, as was the tonneau cover.

I have it. Ordered it when we ordered the truck. We got it to primarily haul bikes and other longer items. Only had the truck 3 days so haven't used it other than to take it out to haul a long item that needed the whole bed. Discovered that I will be using it a lot though for grocery shopping. Plan to keep it in. The back seat legroom area of the double cab, doesn't have much room at all. Was disappointed. Coming from having owned four extended cab Colorado's, so first time with a double cab. When grocery shopping, would throw most of my bags on the floor and lighter things on the seat of the Colorado's. There is hardly any room on the floor in the double cab with the position we keep the seats in. Was hoping to take a trip with a couple of friends in the back seat, but going to have to use our Avalon. When sitting in the back seat, the seats are so low one can barely get ones feet under the front seats either so the legroom just wouldn't work for a couple of adults to sit in there for anything other than a drive across town.

Do expect to be happy with the extender purchase.

My limited bbp came fully loaded with black oval steps, tonneau cover, bedmat, mats, vip security, and the bed extender.. It's quite nice especially for the groceries.

I wasn't impressed with the tonneau cover at first from the last 2 tacoma I saw it on.. Lines were sloppy as hell on them..but mine looks like it was done with a lot more care.

Now I'm taking quite a liking to it... I'll won't be frequently throwing big things in the back so it works well.

Does the bed extender work with the factory tonneau cover? I have the tonneau but not the bed extender and want to be sure before I buy it.

Also, can someone link to a good price on the b.e.?

Yes, it works with the factory tonneau cover. We just ordered when we ordered the truck, so it was just bundled in with the truck. Dealer put it in.

This is one of the best options you can get. I have had one on my last truck for the past 13 years and it was great. So many uses for it. The thing also disconnects in seconds if you don't want to use it.

My husband and I like different things about his truck. With the waterproof cover it makes the back the worlds biggest trunk which I really like :). The extender thing makes putting stuff in and getting it back out really easy for me. I think it is much easier than my SUV because I don't have worry about things falling out. It's an extra door but I just open the top, look in, and then open the bottom and I can reach everything :).

Is the tonneau cover supposed to be waterproof? We've been getting a ton of rain in Houston lately and I noticed a little bit of inside the bed near the tailgate
