Has anyone bought their Taco because of price and would have liked a different color?

    Too few to list.
When I first got my 2009, I wanted a SW TRD OR DC 6psd with the JBL. There were only 2 available in SoCal and the dealers around didn't have it. They offered me a great deal on a silver one with the same exact configuration that I wanted. I had to pass since I knew I wasn't gonna be totally happy with the color.

As for breaking up the red, it's not a bad idea to go two tone like your first pic. I have yet to see that on a Taco.

My first choice for '11 model was Mag Grey, but the silver was a close second. Looked at both for a long time, they were identical truck and price. I went with the silver although there are tons of silver tacomas everywhere i look. Not sure why, just thought it would show less dirt and imperfections than the darker color. The two best colors IMO were the indigo ink and Impulse red , neither are availabable currently. Sort of wish i would have stayed with my instinct and got the Mag Grey, but i like the silver well enough.

If I did it again, I would go for a white TRD OR or Sport DC SB Manual 4x4 with the OEM Roof Rack, TRD SC, TRD CAI, and TRD Exhaust. I really wanted a white Taco but I couldnt find one. :(

I guess if I found a good enough deal on something leftover maybe I would. Although with buying new I opted to wait til they could locate the magnetic gray truck I wanted. I wanted a similar color to that in no matter what my next vehicle was going to be so nothing was stopping me from getting it haha.

yes ,, I wanted either the red or blue, but own the white, white is too hard to keep clean, but the upside is when the paint fades its less noticable

Black was third on my list of least desirable colors (behind silver and white) but that's what I got because it was the only one I found that was 4x4 with the 6 speed (used or new).
Lot of people give me crap for having black and taking the truck off road but I just consider it a challenge and a matter of pride to wheel my truck and keep it looking good.

As far as dressing up your truck. White on red looks great OR you could go totally bananas and do yellow!

But I think it looks pretty good as is with the topper.

The bottom line is the dealer can only sell what they currently have on the lot. Yeah, there is such a thing as dealer trades, but no dealer is willing to allow a serious buyer off the lot without a vehicle...Bottom line!
I used to sell Toyotas...My standard line to the customer when they specified a certain color was this: Do you like green? If I can save you enough green, will you take the white one? More times than not, I got a smile and a nod.
Used vehicles are like snowflakes, there are no two alike.
People who used to come onto the lot and say, I'm looking for a Tacoma prerunner 4x4, extra cab, with beige interior and dessert sand mica paint. My std answer was, shall I order it from the factory for you; oh, and how many miles would you like on it? After all, whats the likelyhood of having a used vehicle spec'd like you're ordering from the factory? Some people just dont think about such things...

I was ready to buy any 4x4 color but black or red. Went to the dealership and ALL THEY HAD was black and red. I choose the red one. They would not even consider finding me another color. It has grown on me but I wonder what it will look like in 10 years. I always find white trucks do not look as "dated" as other colors. Oh well, I am stuck with it now.

I wanted a white truck. White is right.

Anyways, in my search, I couldnt find 1 in the price range I wanted. Until a Indigo Ink showed up on Autotrader.

21K or so for 2007 DC 4x4 TRD Sport w/ 36K miles, 2 years ago. I emailed the dude and ask if he would go to 19K....But he told me no. Then a week later, he told me if was still interested, he'll do $19.5K.

How can you pass that up.

Once I decide on what color I want, I never settle for a different color for less money, unless maybe it was enough of a savings to repaint the whole thing the color I wanted as well as have money left over after paint.

I have never come across any vehicle that I would have saved enough money buying, to repaint the whole thing.
