Has anyone bought their Taco because of price and would have liked a different color?

I bought mine used so didn't really have an option...wanted a 2009-2012, Double Cab, TRD Sport LB or TRD OR SB.

Only found one double cab TRD anywhere nearby and it happened to be a 2011 in Pyrite Mica. I lucked out. I think if I bought one brand new I'd get the same color.

Only color I would have thought twice about would have been white. I really just don't like white vehicles.

Pyrite Mica and MGM my favorites and I found myself choosing between a DBLB Pyrite Mica and a supercharged DCBS in BSP, which was actually a bit cheaper, so I went with BSP. I'd love for it to be one of the other two colors, but ultimately as long as as it wasn't any kind of red or blue I would be happy.

I went in looking to get a Magnetic Grey DC Sport which apparently is hard to find down here in San Diego. Anyway, went to the dealer and the only two that they had was a Pyrite Myca and Silver Sky. Although the Myca looked nice, it wasn't what I wanted. The Silver one blew me away and bought it on the spot. Now even when I see a Grey one drive by I'm happy with my choice. Love this truck.

I got a price quote from the dealer and told him any color but white and a bare bones reg cab base. After I drove the vehicle and decided to buy , I thought I should have told them any color but white and black (not wanting black due to heat in sun and black, like white, in my opinion, shows the dirt easier). Anyway, so asked what other colors they had in stock (they had a whole bunch just like it) - and they told me (drum roll please ......) it will cost $200 if I want a different color.

I politely told them to stick it .....

    nothing cool
Older thread but fun to read. I never really cared what color as long as it wasn't Red or Blue. (can't do it, I'm a Wildcat not a Jayhawk). Found a great deal on my truck used and it was Black. I love it. Silver was my first choice and that newer Silver Sky is my favorite. Black has grown on my so much that it's probably my first choice if I ever buy again. (maybe Inferno Red if the 2 TRD Pro's in town don't sell soon)

I bought mine due to price, low miles and manual gearbox. Proud owner of a Desert Sand Mica 6-speed Tacoma. I really prefer white but the customer-repelling color/transmission combo meant that the price was right.

    More than I can afford
Not so much hard to find as it is hard to keep in stock I bet.

Very popular color here in San Diego, I know 3 people with grey DCSBs and see a ton of them on the road.

As far as the OPs question, X-Runners only come in SWB (now blue ribbon), Red and BSP.

SWB is was too over the top for me, no BRM ones available used.
I will never own a red vehicle unless it has a prancing horse emblem on the hood.

BSP is what I went with. I would have loved a White or Grey one but no can do with an X, unless it has been repainted.

When it became evident in my mind that someday I would own a new Tacoma (the thought struck me Spring of 2012), I had my mind set on a red or black one....white - if it was optioned-out like I wanted.

So here it is July of 2014 and I was actually waiting to hear the news of a re-designed Tacoma for 2015, and actually told the salesman I wanted to wait for the '15's...until he told me there would be very little changes except for some options.

It was then that I decided to opt for a 2014 DCSB PreRunner SR5 V6....black or red. I was told that the stock of red and black ones had been depleted locally, but there was a white on in another state that they said could be delivered within a week, but it was a long bed and did not have the Class IV tow package.

All they had left on the lot was one grey Tacoma access cab and one Pyrite Mica DCSB with all the trimmings I wanted. I looked at the Pyrite Mica Taco and looked it over again, then I looked at it from a distance and at different angles (as the salesman told me to do), and realized that it actually displayed several different shades depending on angle and sunlight. It was then that I was actually impressed with the color. But...it wasn't black or red, so I drove away.

On my way home I decided to do a little grocery shopping and what pulls into the parking spot right next to me?

A 2014 Tacoma DCSB PreRunner SR5 V6 in Pyrite Mica.

I went grocery shopping, took everything home and returned to the Toyota dealership and began to talk $$$$ with the salesman. Him, realizing I wasn't too hip on the color initially.....being metallic at that, he knew the only thing that would make the sale is the price. I agreed half-heartedly on the price until he offered me (through the dealership), quite a few incentives from the dealership alone. So I bought it.

The color, the truck and it's performance delights me more and more every day!

Since the purchase, and hanging out here on this fantastic forum, I have since changed the step bars to N-Fabs, installed the upper and lower Grillcraft grill, added my choice of badging, added a TRD skidpan, a 2014 Sport Grill in Pyrite Mica, TRD FJ rims strapped to Toyo Open Country AT II's and installed a TRD oil cap!

I bought my slightly used gen 1 4x4in 97, it was that purple blue color, I got a smokin deal on it but wasn't happy with the color. Ended up painting it black a and rocked it for 10 yrs. black looks nice but sucks to keep clean and scratch free, very happy with my mag gray.
