I have a 2009 Tacoma. Lights melted. Replaced them with SPEC-D halo/projectors and replaced my DTRL/blinkers with L.E.D. bulbs, type CK. I then did the blinker shave down mod for the correct flash rate and everything works great....unless the daytime lights are lit, then the front flashers wont flash. They work when the headlights are on. (the DTRLs turn off) Or when you first start the truck and haven't released the brake. (DTRLs are off) Anytime the DTRLs turn off, the blinkers all work. It seems like there must be a switch somewhere that I can undo....Has someone done anything to defeat the lights? They use the same wiring as the blinkers at the headlights, so disconnecting them there is not possible. Anyone?

This issue is so old now that I'm hoping that someone has done a fix. I've done several searches and I appreciate all suggestions.

Thanks, Ahshiet for sending me the link. I've got to get better at the search function. Looks like I'll be snipping a wire. I'm getting good at crawling under the dash board..... For anyone else, on the lower portion of the fuse panel, (behind the coin holder) and on the rear of the panel there is a white plug with three wires. If you want the DTRLs gone, snip the Green/Red wire and tape it. I'd leave enough wire to allow someone in the future the option of re-connecting it.

The green, red wire was a green, black wire, but I snipped it and all is well. Because that link was so specific and so well done, I only had to remove the coin pocket and I reached up and found the plug exactly as shown. Where shown. Two reds. One green in the middle. This should be a STICKY. Is it? This mod could have stopped the lights melting in the first place. I wouldn't have needed the LEDs and the blinker mod or even the new light assemblies. This is the simplest and best mod I've done. No more headlight BBQ and good blinker action! Great.
