I drive a 2018 Toyota Tacoma Off-Road. Something has been eating the black paint off the roof and hood of my car. Do I need to just repaint it? Any tip on prevention? I went to my local toyota and they said they can't properly assess it until the end of April but it's getting worse and worse everyday.

Damn. Shitty first post. Looks like a repair done poorly? Def not normal. Ask a body shop what’s up with that.

That looks like scratch marks, are there multiple cats where you park, maybe raccoons or angry squirrels, pissed someone off lately, do you have any cameras where the vehicle gets parked?

Noticed it about a month ago. Thought it was just scratches from driving around Colorado. But, it's starting to bubble and spread. Seems likes something is actively making it worse.

Its called crazing and it happens. Your fix is going to be to have the panels stripped and repainted.

Its not from animals, its not from car washes, its not from someone scratching the truck.

Somebody repainted your hood and didn’t do a good finish sand and or clean it well before final paint. Doesn’t look like they used a DA sander and did it by hand.
You could try some 600 grit wet and dry and just get a wrap on it or just paint the hood a different color or match it. You’re not gonna stop that it’s going to continue on hopefully it’s not on the body of your truck too.

To me it kinda looks like a wrap that is starting to pull up or peel. The lip at the far back edge of the hood looks fine with a distinct transition

It does look like a likely repair with bad prep before repainting. Is there any sign of repair? Can you see anything that looks different from original on the under side of the hood [different/new paint, sheet metal creases, etc.]? Is there a difference in paint at the hood hinges - hood, body, bolts. If they're not all the same it's easy to see.
Tap different parts of the hood with your finger. Maybe you can hear differences like where bondo/auto body filler was applied. If that's the case where the paint is bad I bet the surface was not properly cleaned/prepped before painting.
