Yes! Or some type of chemical reaction.

 

Probably because that's when his warranty runs out

 

$50 the dealership got the truck with some damage and did a crap job repainting and sold it as new over it being that way from the factory, but that’s just my previous dealership experiences coming through, what do I know ha.

Looks like you got a fatal attraction on your hands.

 

My buddy had something similar happen to the bumpers on his new Subaru...it was from the chemical overspray the window cleaners used to clean the windows on his house. Those guys use strong acids sometimes to make removing hard water spots much easier. The only problem is it will easily remove the paint on your vehicle too. Have you parked anywhere near where there was some sort commercial cleaning going on?

 

That looks like chemical damage to me.

That looks like a chemical reaction. Like something spilled or was wiped on the paint. Really sorry to see, but I think there is a repaint coming.

 

I was going to say it seems to be confined to the clear coat. Maybe the clear coat can be stripped off and reapplied without disturbing the underlying paint?

I'd use this as an excuse to get a hood with a scoop.

 

Poor Prep prior to painting. Likely some oil on the surface before painting. I have caused that before with oils from my skin when I was trying to paint something.

 

This happens to poorly painted surfaces. It took 10 years before that happened to my previous taco.

 

Take it to body shop. Ask them and they can tell you what's happening.

 

Before I could cement my garage there was room under the doors and the neighbor's cat's made tracks on the hoods of our cars. I explained they needed to keep their cats away or it would not turn out well for their cat's...

 

Looks like somebody poured lacquer thinner on the paint…..

 

looks like ice crystals. unfortunately, i don't think that's the case.

 

Looks like bad prep on the paint job.
