I contacted a body shop that is willing to bend them back and adjust the angles of the differential back to specs but I am wondering if I should do that or just buy the BAMF HD shackles instead.

I would like to keep the truck stock but I also want the truck to be safe to drive and not have to worry about having these brackets weakened by bending them back. opinions?

I guess it depends on how much they will charge you and if you'd still need to bend that bit of frame back anyway to mount the BAMF hangers.

And to more appropriately offer a solution:

Frame straightening is a thing that shops do. So I assume this little bit of bending would be pretty easy. Have them bend it back and keep the stock hangers if you can. You'll have to bend that piece of frame to get the BAMF hangers aligned anyway.

I bought the truck like this, at a deep discount of course it came with a salvaged title.

so far I have roughly 1300 into it, this is the last damage piece of the truck that I need to do.

Just my $0.02, but it looks like you actually might have some serious structural frame damage there bud -

Looking at the right side, it looks like the impact caused the bolt to pry on the channel flange and bend it out of shape. That picture is a nearly perfect example of prying action and localized flange buckling described in the AISC design manual.

Given the strength of the steel used in the Taco frame, I'd recommend you replace the bolts and talk to a body shop who deals with this kind of damage.

Than $500 from a body shop with a frame straightening machine seems reasonable

I took it to the shop, frame is fine other than this. Now my dilemma is keeping it stock by bending them or putting the HD shackles.

It looks like the bend is a mixture of hanger and frame, so only replacing them with heavy duty hanger would only fix half the problem

Like I said before. It's going to be $500 to bend those spots on the frame back no matter what. IF you can keep the stock hangers and they align properly, then you'll only have to have it straightened. If the hangers are toast, you'll be $500 + whatever the cost of the hangers and installation.

If it were me, I'd be replacing the bolts that caused the bending of the flanges. They wrenched on that channel frame pretty damn hard to cause the flange of the channel to fail like that. Cheap peace of mind, plus you might have to remove them anyways to bend it back if you choose to do it yourself.

Like the other guy said, I'd just pay a shop to do it since they have the right tools for the job.

The hangers are attached to the frame via rivets, the only bolts are on the shackle and leaf spring
