The yokel I bought my truck from did. I did this on my 99 S10 way back, and I realized it wasn't a screw on shifter knob. I wound up cutting it off with a box cutter.

My problem is two-fold. First, I cannot seem to locate a stock shifter knob. Secondly, I don't know if the stock knob threaded on. I see there are threads on the shifter, but am wondering if a stock knob threads on.

I took my stock knob off, and yes, it threads on. Not interested in selling my stock shifting knob, but hopefully this helps anyways!

I've looked and looked. All I'm finding are pimptastic knobs that are OMG Colorful!!!!

Guess I'm a rare breed. Not really interested in mods, much. If someone spots a stock knob on Ebay and lets me know, I'd be grateful. Thanks.

yes screws on, stock their just very night, and should be, but not over tight. I just busted my 4x4 knob tonight by over zealous tightning :(, its still on, but it spins so i left it on for now.

check ebay for aftermarket knobs, or take up a user here on the forum for the stock knob. stealerships will also be able to special order them, but they wont be cheap, as nothing is.

I twisted mine right off and traded it out with an old baseball that I had sitting around my room and drilled it out a little bit. Fits in the palm perfectly and has a nice feel that I am used to from playing for 15 years. Did similar things with my friends cars and lacrosse balls, hockey pucks.... anything solid really.
