I’m thinking about getting a tune for my 2017 tacoma. Any thoughts or recommendations? Has anyone tried D3 performance tune?

I'd stay away. You'll find little discussion about them here but the biggest thing you need to know is their LLC was "involuntarily revoked".

Like @ColoradoTJ said, there are plenty of tune options in the performance & tuning section. Pick your poison and have fun!

Another vote for KDMax from me.

It’s the best money I’ve spent on the truck since I bought it. Makes it drive like a totally different vehicle; it actually makes it fun to drive. Shifts when you would expect it too, great acceleration, etc.

I just had the KDMax Pro XT installed yesterday. Best upgrade I've made to the truck by far! It shifts so much smoother than before. The truck actually feels like it wants to accelerate for the first time.

Define "Performance Tune"; are you asking about more power or better throttle and transmission response?

Been very happy with my tune from Chan in the Bay Area. Definitely think it’s with it.

I like the OVT Tune a couple months back. Really helps with my 32 inch tires.

You will find that for those that have invested in a particular tune company, they will say that they absolutely love the one they chose "for the win". Same thing with tires, skids, sliders, lifts, tonneaus, camper shells, etc, etc, etc!

Probable because regardless of which you tune someone has it greatly improves performance over stock.

I dunno, a lot of people on these forums are real quick to point out something that doesn't work the way they think it should after spending $$$ on it

I've had the OvTune in various forms on my 2017 for a number of years now and have been very happy with it. Currently running the Blackhawk from Nexus and it's the best tune I've tried.
To be totally fair to other tuners out there it's also the ONLY paid OvTune variation I've tried so I'm certainly not knocking KDMax and others  I lack the disposable cash to try them all.
