Will the HP tuner work with the air pump completely removed or does it still need to be installed?

HP tuner will just let you turn it off whether you chose to physically remove it all or not. But you’ll have to do it yourself. EPA is watching all the tuners out there (wink), so they will not disable emissions equipment for you.

Huh? I mean with HP tuners you can make more space than with the bypass kit. Remove ALL of it (@zippsub9 has a write up), install 2005-11 passenger valve cover & exhaust manifolds, then disable it in the ECM with the tuning software

Dood! When I said remove ALL of it, I meant all, including the pump. Seriously, look up the write-up from the guy I tagged above.

Hello, I recently performed the Uni Filter UP-107 mod that many recommend, and during the process, I unscrewed the base where the air pump is located. Coincidentally, the next day my car started making a terrible noise when I drive faster than 35 mph, and it also feels weaker. Is there a chance that I might have damaged my secondary air pump? I can't tell if the noise is coming from the engine or the wheels. When the car is in neutral and I rev the engine, it sounds normal, even at high RPMs.

Oh no, it just occurred to me, is it possible that debris or dirt could have entered my engine during the modification process?

I had this issue last week, check engine and trac off lights, dtc for "pump stuck off"... forgot code number. Checked internal pump filter, clean and intact. Powered pump directly from battery , ran but sounded weak. I ordered a new aftermarket pump assy from Amazon. I continued to get the code and recurring limp mode. The new pump arrived Wednesday and I installed. The new pump sounds much faster when on but it seems noisier in operation than the original pump. I have not had any further codes set. I took the rubber boot off the oem pump and found carbon brush dust all over the motor housing. I guess at 117k the brushes and commutator were about done. The pump seems to normally run about 10 seconds on cold start and about 2 seconds on shut down. It must also cycle while driving to verify operation and complete the emissions monitor cycle.

I just changed the oil, and my truck healed. She is running perfectly now, with no noise, and full power.
    She is awesome :D
