I am wondering what sort of impact, if any, would elongating the length of vacuum hose for a catch can create on any and all the emissions sensors of this God awful system? Would any of the sensors read slightly less vacuum if you increase the total "vacuumed" ID area 4-5x?

The reason I ask is because I am considering a can, but IMO, for a 3rd gen 6MT the mounting location of 99% of these cans is suboptimal (driver's side fender/fuse/clutch master cylinder area).

I am a plug and play kind of guy and have been thinking that the JLT kit's mounting location is appealing for a manual transmission. It also most closely matches the stock vacuum hose length. One consideration is that it only holds 3oz and as I understand it, other competitors have greater capacity and the capacity extension for the JLT apparently doesn't fit. The major consideration with this kit is that it instructs you to cut the factory hose, necessitating you to buy a spare hose(Part #12261-0P110) should you wish to quickly revert to stock form if SHTF. I guess you can use other suitable 3/8"ID hoses. What do you fine people think about the elongated vacuum line length thought?

I think that line of thinking is analysis paralysis. I believe @Bascoma has his catch can mounted on the passengers side, along with a few others.

I am sure it is. I appreciate your response and am seeking some kind of assurance I guess. Please forgive my reluctance to immediately modify a relatively expensive first truck without asking what's on my mind.

Fair enough. I'm an idiot, but my gut says you're okay. You're right to ask questions though.

I’ve got the JLT on my MT truck. I’ve run 5-10k and it’s never been over half full

if you are off-road, you should be checking it more often. I think 3oz is more than enough.

Thanks for the input man! I'm glad it's working out for you. I'll place an order and grab an extra hose and gaskets from Carson.

I’ve spent enough on this truck when I bought it and should be engineered to perform as expected for the next umpteen miles without any more out of pocket expense so that it operates with no issues.

However, If a catch can guarantees me an additional 5 HP or my money back, that maybe a game changer. Ha!

I had to modify the bracket by cutting it and drilling a 1/2” hole to mount on the supercharger bracket. Jlt existing mounting on the intake manifold is no longer there. Stock hose from pcv fit perfect to one side without cutting. Magnuson provided hose fit on the other side. So far one tank of gas and it’s working.

Mine has been mounted on the pax side for over 35k miles with no issues. 8-10ozs in that time.

I honestly installed a catch can because I like working on my truck and was “in between” more useful mods. Wanted something to do! Mounted in the more common area on the drivers side. Every oil change between 6-8k miles I’ll have maybe barely 2 ounces - for reference regarding a 3oz can.

Coming from multiple basket case old pos, I feel this on a cellular level. I'm bored w my Tacoma, too reliable, haha. I upgrade and tweak shit to my liking, mostly out of boredom, but still happens to be useful and beneficial.

Your first mistake was thinking you could come up in here and ask what's on your mind 1LT Browneye.

We forgive you, just don't let it happen again.

I can see using one of these if you are running a supercharger or a turbo . But stock motor no point .

You're a funny person. Well I have them installed in 3 vehicles and when I see the crud they catch...so ofcourse your vehicle is your vehicle and I choose not to return crud to be burned and get carbon build up...your choice but like I said they remove crud:thumbsup:and that's what matters...to some of us:)!

So I have been discussing this with my cousin, a Ford master tech(Drives a Camaro SS, installed catch can since day 1, go figure) who advised he placed a one way check valve on the catch can line to "avoid potential backfire issues". The catch can does catch fuel and a backfire might ignite it according to him, but I'm not sure if there would be enough O2 to facilitate the kaboom or if anyone has ever experienced something like this. What do you all think? Unnecessary or a decent preventative measure than can't hurt?

The cheaper the mod the more the hate.

If you really want some bro acceptance buy $3000 new wheels and tires and a $5000 lift, nothing but virtual high fives.
