This alarm module is supposed to activate your vehicle alarm if anyone bangs on/breaks the windows (shock sensor), attempts to remove the catalytic convertor, remove wheels/tires or tilt the vehicle more than one degree, i.e.: prevent theft by towing.

Has anyone tried this module??? Seems simple to install.

Yes, much different. The OEM Tacoma alarm system does not have glass breakage, shock sensor or tilt protection.

Not trying to be edgy, but does anyone still pay attention to car alarms anymore when they are going off?

 

I figure for only $170 I can add a motion sensor, shock sensor and tilt sensor to my OEM alarm. It seems super simple to install. Opinions please???

I seldom notice alarms going off can't recall the last time I heard an alarm with a siren, it's usually the OEM alarm with the horn. When I did impound towing most people didn't pay attention to the alarm going off. I heard that a few neighborhoods over had some airbag thefts lately and mostly Hondas were targeted those usually have OEM alarms and people still got the airbags. I don't think people pay attention car alarms going off.

 

I would think if someone is laying under your truck and the horn goes off and lights begin flashing, most, if not all thieves, would stop and take off.

 

I'd also be curious to know if there's an override switch? I don't know if this sensor would go off in heavy thunderstorm, but if it does, it'd be good to have a way to turn it off.

UPDATE: I was just contacted by the seller on Amazon. There is no override switch per se, but there is a bypass function, which answers my question about "turning off" the function as needed. Here's what they said...

There is no override switch, but there is sensor bypass function as below: Press LOCK button on key fob to lock all doors and horn sounding once, within 3sec pressing LOCK button again, horn will sound again and the smart sensor will stop as “ sensor bypass “ function Press UNLOCK button on key fob and “ sensor bypass “ function will be canceled.

I think I'm ready to pull the trigger on it.

Thanks for sharing the video. This sensor really looks like the real deal. Should help prevent someone from cutting off my catalytic converter, removing the tailgate, breaking out a window or towing my truck away. Nothing is foolproof but the manner in which this sensor works turns my Tacoma’s OEM alarm into a much better system. I realize a blazing horn and flashing lights are frequently ignored but tell that to the thief under my truck cutting off the catalytic converter as the alarm goes off. Same for the turd trying to break out a window.

 

Yes, agreed on all points. People may not pay attention to alarms these days, but I'm sure you will be, if it's going off in the middle of the night in your driveway.
