Has anyone mounted a ladder going up the side or back of their truck?

I know some older Land Rovers had ladders on the side going up to the roof, has anyone done or seen anything like that on a tacoma? Trying to make the top of my shell/truck more accessible.

 

Never seen it on a truck but always thought it might look cool, not sure how you'd rig it up though.

In my mind I'd buy a Gobi ladder or something like that for a 4Runner or FJ Cruiser and retrofit it to the truck somehow.

 

Being in Alaska may make it hard/expensive, but any place that makes a bed rack could build you a custom rack to go over your shell with a ladder made for it. I would imagine you would have to provide precise measurements of you shell to ensure fitment.

 

My sliders with kick outs make it easy to reach up there, as does the tail gate. Climbing up there isn't something I need to do though, but cool idea.

 

I remember Predator Strikeforce building a removable ladder that could be used on either side of his roof rack:
