For some reason, the designers at Toyota decided to bump the hood up in such a way as to require the creation of a curved ridge where the hood meets the cab. As a result, when driving with the sun overhead and a little to the right, a bright spot of concentrated glare is created. The concave surface concentrates it so that it is very bright and very irritating. I'd consider this a design flaw. Anyone else noticing this? I am considering having a piece of flat black tape put along this edge to at least try to dampen the problem Any other solutions?

I haven't heard of any complaints about the third gen Tacoma.

You're the first one. You must have got a lemon.

    Take it back.

No issues with glare from the hood or dash trim like some people have stated before.

The complaints on these trucks are getting a little ridiculous. The sun reflects off shiny surfaces. It happens on every vehicle on the road.

The glare from my pearly white teeth reflecting off my rear view mirror is much more distracting.

Vinyl wrap it. That's what I did. Cuts down the reflection off the hood.

I've never had this issue. I did have a 2005 tundra that needed a windshield replacement due to a handprint on the sheet of laminate between the glass and right in front of my face while driving. Now that took a few steps to prove to the dealer.

What's more likely to cause an accident: the glare off your skewp, or snapchatting and driving?

I heard that there's going to be a transmission update so you close your eyes when you accelerate. That way you won't get blinded by the sun.

Just keep your truck dirty all the time, no glare.

That was the main reason I traded my 2011 Sport for a 2012 SR5...that glare was a killer at certain times in the evening.

It's never bothered me here in sunny-ass Florida.

If it bugs you that much though you should put some matte black vinyl on that back edge... or even mask it off and spray it with some plasti-dip. That should take care of the problem.
