Has Anyone Painted their Front Bumper

My front bumper has taken a little bit of a beating from parking lots and stuff. I bought a bumper silver painted bumper from a 2005 to potentially match my 2007. Unfortunately, the pictures provided by the seller didn't show the real condition of the bumper. The color match isn't bad but the bumper I bought needs work. My fault for not checking it out better.

My thinking was I might get lucky, have the paint match and just bolt it on as an improvement to the one I have. Worst case I was thinking was I'd have it painted. The thing that didn't show up in the sellers photos are the chips and pits from road miles.

The Tacoma bumpers have a texture to them. My concern is how a painter will correct flaws in either my existing bumper or the one I bought off the 2005. Do they skim coat it, prime and paint? If so, will the surface finish be uniform? Is there a sandable primer that has sufficient body to fill small road chips and pits?

The real question is has anyone had a front bumper repaired and painted? How does it look in general? How does it look specifically against the fender flairs?

    Thanks.

I just got a new bumper installed on my Tacoma. I didn't see the replacement before paint got sprayed and it was a new bumper, not a chip damaged one.

I have no doubt that they can fill the chips and fix it up. You can also paint it with something else-Use Line-X or a rubberized coating.

    Good luck!!
