I found a decent deal on a used 1st Gen TRD supercharger. I really want it but I don't need one. I don't think anyone really needs one but I am a MAN!!! MORE POWER!!!!!!
So has anyone regretted putting a supercharger on their V6 Taco? If so, why?

I told the seller that I would make a decision tonight.

anything you do to increase horsepower will also increase engine wear, for every action there is an equal reaction and SC or turbo will reduce engine life, by how much is debatable depending on how long you plan to keep the vehicle. not to mention it turns into gas guzzler.

if your keeping it for 5-7 years and then plan to get rid of it the its the next guys problem when the engine starts having issues at year 10+, if you plan to keep it 10+ years or more, leave it stock and it might last 15-20 years

Also keep in mind that trd discontinued the superchargers, although this is a 1st gen version then it'll be that much more worth. Just don't go and share the sellers link cause chances are it'll go fast if you don't pick it up - true story.

It's definitely a ten year truck, and I thought about engine wear and the modifications needed for the fuel system to prevent lean air mixture. But the Arnold Schwarzenegger voice in my head keeps shouting "More Power!!!!"
I am sure the wise decision would be to let the deal go.

Horse shit. It all depends on the driver. I can get better mileage with forced induction because at cruising speed the extra HP lets it run less rpm's at same speed as n/a. It certainly doesn't make a racer out of it by any means, but the extra torque is nice off roading or when I need to pass another car without taking miles to get around them. it gets crappy mileage anyway, even without the supercharger, the difference is minimal either way

No regrets at all on my 2nd Gen. My mileage stayed exactly the same as before. I get 20.3 mpg in my X-Runner. The Supercharger dosn't like back pressure. Just the Supercharger alone with a stock exhaust was a little underwhelming but really came alive after opening up the exhaust and adding a smaller pulley. It is now a torque monster!

ZERO regrets here. Nice power upgrade - 213HP and 231FT-LBS at the rear wheels. (Assumed ~15% drivetrain loss puts those numbers about where I expect them.)

I average ~19MPG, with a summer-time high of ~21MPG and an winter-time low of ~16MPG. (They oxygenate our fuel during the winter months, to reduce pollution, which also reduces horsepower and gas mileage.)

So is $1500 a good deal for a used 1st gen supercharger?

Not the best deal, but not the worst. I paid 1650 for mine, never had the time to install it and sold it for 1000

They used to be found for the $900-1000 range. With the discontinuation of new, no idea what going rate is. Brand new MSRP is around 3k.

Is it a Gen 1 (gray body) or a Gen 2 (black body) S/C for the 1st Gen? If it is Gen 2 and has all the hardware, it is a fair price to me. How many miles are on it? Has the nose cone been rebuilt?

The 5VZ is a different beast with the S/C on it. It just pulls and pulls and pulls. I was getting about 18mpg before. With moderate acceleration, I get 17mpg. Heavy acceleration, I'll drop around 16.5mpg.

You'll definitely want the URD 7th injector kit which adds another $900.

I was hoping to avoid the expensive urd kit. I have fuel injectors from a non turbo 2JZ motor and a Walbro fuel pump I am hoping my ECM can adjust for this. All in hopes to avoid the lean mix under heavy load and pre ignition.
