I have a premium TRD OR but didn’t get the electronic swaybar disconnect. I’m planning a trip to Moab this summer and wondered how it would do if I removed front and possibly rear sway bars. From what I read, the way these are set up and attached to the lower a-arm, you can’t really manually disconnect and get it out of the way without fully removing it. Just wondering if anyone has tried it.

You can try removing one link and flexing out the truck on a loading ramp. Check if the free sway bar end will clear the LCA when flexed out. LCA-mounted link (like 1st gen Tacomas) makes this more likely to work. Couldn't do this with the knuckle-mounted link on 2nd/3rd gen.

If I remember correctly, Tinkerer's Adventure on youtube tested it on his FJ and saw better results in overall flex by removing the front sway bar but leaving the rear bar installed. I realize that's not a Tacoma, but something to think about.

That’s good a good video with a lot of good Info…thank you.
I have a 10-12 hour drive to Moab. I may just leave it on for the drive there and remove the front swaybar for a few days of off-roading and reinstall for the drive home.
