Has anyone seen my taco or know who owns it now?

I traded my taco in for a Lexus RC F in August. I asked the salesmen later that month about what happened to my truck and he said it went to an auction. I would love to know who owns it now! Here are some pics of it. Hopefully it turns up.

I sold mine back in September, and hoped it would pop up on here and someone would do way more with it than I was able to, but the likelihood is pretty slim. Only a tiny number of Tacoma owners are on here

Why would a dealership send a truck like that, to auction? A truck like that would sell within a few days on a used dealership lot around here.

Yeah I was surprised when he told me that. I was imagining it sitting outside a toyota dealership, but nope lol

I imagine they didn't want the liability of selling a modded truck like that at a dealer. Most (not all...) of those go to non-dealership lots.

As the other guy said, most would go to non Toyota dealers.

My wife works at a large dealer auto auction. Not that we can buy cars there, but she sometimes tries to explain different criteria each company selling or buying cars or trucks has as a guideline.

Could have been how old it was, mileage, mods, or simply knowing they could get more as is and send it to a non Toyota dealer.

Looking at your location, it probably went to Manheim in Mannheim.

As for why, all the reasons listed above. I've driven lots of modded vehicles to auction over the last four years.

You would be surprised how many auction cars get exported overseas. No telling what adventures that taco is on now.

Dealers auction stuff all the time. They often have certain things they specialize in or certain things they aren't interested in. It's likely that a big time new car dealer would not be interested in something heavily modded like that - it's just not their specialty.

I cant find the owner, but if you're interested I can run the VIN thru Carfax for you and assuming it's been purchased you'll be able to know if it's local or out of state. After looking at a ton of carfax reports I can say it's really common for cars to be auctioned and be moved all around the country. There may be some method to that madness but it's always seemed random. Except - I have seen a decent amount of semi-rusted Tacomas shipped over to the west coast. I assume people think they can get decent money for them here due to the premium these trucks demand here.

Somewhere, someone is ordering sliders, bed stiffeners, a machine gun mount and an ovtune as we speak.

No offense but that truck is very gaudy looking (imho), I bet it didn’t fetch nearly as much at resale as one might think.
