“Denny’s policy permits law enforcement officials to carry their firearms in the restaurant and we regret any misunderstanding.”

Last I checked we can carry our pistols anywhere...We don't follow businesses policies, just the law.

Could a police officer (not including meter maids) ever take their gun off while on duty? I would say most departments require to carry at all times while on duty anyway.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Some F'n Customer probably complained to the Manager. The Manager was wrong but now knows it's ok. I'd cut the Manager some slack on this one. The Dennys employees work their asses off. Give 'em a break. Please. [IMG]

Detectives maybe? I did a lot of "soft clothing" work. out of uniform but still on-duty.

I know most of the night Dennys staff and mgnt by name. I have a Denny's that just touches my zone and responding there for calls is part of the norm at 1-3 am. I even go in and eat every now and then and have never had an issue with staff of mgnt. They are always happy to see us as they know they won't have an issue for the 1/2 hr we are there.
