Did you take a look at his truck? I think the answer to your questions is rather obvious...

Pretty sure Tacoma has the best stopping parameters in the class....Who cares if there is another car out there that has discs?? Toyota figured out how to make the Tacoma do it better with drums. What technology it has is not as important as how it performs.

I did a rear disc brake upgrade on my old 2006 Tacoma when I put the Currie 9" rear axle in. I had a horrible time getting it to work and had no e-brake when it was done. I also removed the entire ABS assembly as well.

    Solution:
I used a Line-Loc as an e-brake and had no issues. I also used a Wilwood proportioning valve as well to keep everything happy. I kept my stock MC and it worked fine once I found the correct size calipers to make it all work. Finding the correct size calipers was my biggest obstacle. Once I found that the system was great.

This truck on 35s would stop on a dime after the conversion. Once it was dialed I did what any idiot would do. I sold the truck.

No that it is a whole new 9" axle that came with disc brakes on my old 2006 Tacoma.

I was demonstrating that discs can work with the stock Toyota MC but I lost e-brake, and ABS.

Gotcha. And you lost the ABS because you lost the speed sensor capability with the new axle, correct?

Yes, but I used a Rock Crawler Toys harness to tap into the T-case to get my transmission to shift correctly and my speedo to work. That kit is what made my truck driveable again. That and figuring out the whole caliper issue.

Does anyone recommend a rotor for front brakes while keeping stock caliper? Or is a new rotor even neccesary?

Alright thanks for the information, I think im going to go with the EBC stage 4. I like the black look to them. Would that fade with use?

Would either way be the same wether its Slotted and Dimpled or just Slotted? Wondering if the price jump is worth it

On my Jeep I used to run slotted and cross drilled. Never had a problem with braking ability, and it cooled well.

Yeaah I dont know why they would'nt work as well. I thought it was to remove debris and water.. Its more costly to get dimpled and slotted.
