So I have an allocated white trd pro that I put a $1,000 (non refundable deposit) that hasn’t been built yet. I was able to find an electric lime that I really wanted after seeing one in person being delivered on Saturday to another dealership. What do you think my chances are of getting my $1,000 back?

I would assume your chances are good. Dealers are having no issues moving these trucks. Also, read the fine print on your deposit contract. I'm sure it gives you allowances to deny the sale...

Sounds iffy. They could be good and offer it back. They could say no, since it was a non refundable...

    You call them and ask?

Why did you make it a non-refundable deposit? Was it a sweet deal or something and you said I'll 100% take it here's my devotion!

I'd think they will totally refund you normally, dealers have never had an issue selling the PRO as they are allocated so few.

Just don't tell them you found another truck somewhere else. Just tell them you have to hold off due to financial reasons!:D

I had put down $500 on a Taco and the truck came in but then they said it was damaged so I waited again and no truck, so I went elsewhere to buy and bought, so I called the the guy at the dealership that originally charged my credit card the money and told him I needed my $500 back, in a couple of days my money was back in! No problem

I put a deposit down for mine at Toyota of Des Moines in October 2021. They were great, but were never allocated a Lunar Rock TRD Sport or OR. When January came around I found what I wanted available and en route to the dealership at Inver Grove Toyota in Minnesota. I contacted them and reserved it. Toyota of Des Moines gave me my deposit back with no problems at all and said congratulations on being able to get what I was wanting. Both dealerships were great to work with for me. I picked up the truck at Inver Grove and have been getting service (still under Toyota Care) in Des Moines. No problems or hiccups at all.

The Jerk Off's I dealt with at Daytona Toyota in FL put me through the ringer on this even though they knew it wasn't binding.
Two faced smiling ratz. :blahblah: They will say anything. (look for a clause in the contract regarding "possession")

I had used AMEX to place the deposit.
After explaining my side, the credit card company intervened on my behalf and froze the payment to hear their side.

After that day, Daytona Toyota ceased communication all around. No more bullying calls or threats to me and zero discussion with AMEX.
They ran out the clock. It took 4 or 5 weeks but the payment was cancelled and my account was credited.

The guy who wrote the deal and their managers will fight you because they don't want to lose out on their pissy little piece of the action.
The owner and higher ups don't care as stated above. The truck will be under agreement the next day to the next guy on the list.
No fuss, no muss, no headaches, no bad publicity. They don't give two shits about you, the sales people or any of their staff anyway.

    Car Dealers Suck.
They all lie and won't sign unless they hit a home run every time.
Joe Shmo off the street can't win.

Hopefully you did it on a credit card so you can just let the credit card dispute it

For some reason Florida Toyota dealerships seem to have gotten an extra helping of obnoxious, or at least that's been my experience. They act like they are doing you a favor selling you a vehicle and have no problem adding on hefty market adjustments, then try and make you feel like you're lucky to pay it. Maybe it has something to do with being part of SE Toyota Distributors, but I've noticed it at several dealerships in south Florida.

From what I understand it’s not a deposit at all. They just use the term.

Not sure where the dealership is located, but I believe that in CA, a dealership is not allowed to stipulate that deposits are non-refundable. Regardless, I'd guess that most dealers would refund a deposit given the model and the current supply.

In California that cannot hood a car, if someone steps on the lot and offers a dollar more, then they can buy it. You have to drive the car off the lot to complete the sale. My “deposit” happened in New Mexico. The salesmen told me it wasn’t a true deposit but really just a showing of good faith. While the truck sat for a week and a half he said at least three people went in asking about it.

It should be refundable. Mine was. Maybe depends on your state.

When I lucked out on an inbound pro to my dealer, they required a minimum of $500 deposit. The truck was due in any day at that time. They said the deposit was refundable and in our communications through text I got them to state that. No official contract was written, just a deposit to show good faith in being interested in the purchase.
