Wait another 12 months and your $1000 will be worth next to nothing due to inflation, so it’ll be no biggy to walk away from it.

Non refundable deposit? Nope. Insist that they write "Refundable For Any Reason Up To Actual Delivery at Dealership" right above their signature. Its just a place holder and indication of your seriousness not a money maker for the dealership.

Eh. Depends on how the dealer feels. I’d say 60% chance they give it back as a chance of good faith. If you really like the other truck, and you really want it, I’d just view the 1000 dollars as a convince fee. I know it’s shitty, but could be worse.

I put down a non refundable deposit and I was able to get it back after I found a truck in another state. The dealer had my money for 3 months and didn't even so much as get an offroad they could have offered me. They didn't give much push back when I asked for it back.

my dealer doesn't refund non-refundable deposit, but that can be applied to other cars you buy from them

Maybe use that towards a GR Corolla?

They gave it back to me when I bought the truck, so I used it on the down payment.

You gave money with the possibility of not getting it back and don't receive the goods agreed to? Go to small claims court. Next time, don't give a non refundable deposit. That immediately says scam.

Some states don't allow "non-refundable" deposits. Just ask for it back nicely, if refused check your laws and just threaten them either way with bad press and contacting your state AG.

Depending on the dealer you went to, it could be easy, or it could be like trying to get your deposit back from a sperm bank. :burp:

Doubt you have any grounds for getting back if it truly is non refundable and says so on your agreement. However the dealer shouldn't have any issues with you moving it a different truck in the color you want.

I didn’t have to leave any deposit on mine. But you need to read the contract you signed to see if it is refundable or not. If it’s not refundable and you try to cancel the Visa charge, you’ll end yo paying that back once the dealer submits the contract to Visa.
With interest rates going up and people
Not being able to afford things, the dealer may not want to keep the vehicle.
however with tacomas still being I’m somewhat hot a demand the dealer may want the truck back and give you back your $

Louisiana, non refundable deposits for vehicles are not allowed. Check your state.
