As you seem to have now figured out, yes the black 28 pin is left hanging. Gray 28 pin is the exact same connector only gray, and it is used along with the 30 pin white. Then the 10 pin black is hooked up as well.

I don’t remember what it does but I believe the blue was left dangling on mine.

I believe the small gray was USB, the small white was GPS, and small black was satellite/XM.

Maestro provides the 6V power for the backup cam 24/7, unlike stock where it’s only provided to the camera in reverse (by the head unit, once the head unit sees 12V on reverse). I had the same issue with switching to NTSC from HD because I had been using the CMOS 740HD camera in the past.

I highly recommend the Enfig microphone if you didn’t grab one already.

I also recommend an OBD splitter for the Maestro OBD hookup so that you don’t have your OBD port blocked all the time. The radio/Maestro will intelligently disconnect itself from the port when it sees you plug something in so that it doesn’t interfere with anything.

    Yeah, everything is working.

The concern wasn't so much that I had an extra cable, but more the question of did I hook up the right cable (gray vs black)? And when I had issues like the backup camera not working (again my mistake not having the cameras setup right), I got concerned.

My mistake was not taking the time to debug the issue then and there, instead taking the time to sit on the problem and wait.

I'll know more about the other cables when I I get all of the cables in (Antenna, GPS and USB - i ordered the wrong pigtail for that too). I'll report in when I get them all setup.

So yeah, I can run the rear camera while driving (excellent) - already tested that out. Glad that's worked out.

On the mic - I ordered the mic mount that Trail Grid sells I think it should work for my needs.

It looks like the Maestro can tap into the ODB2 system via the dash wiring instead of needing to tap into the physical ODB2 port, so there isn't a need for a dual ODB2 connector.

I did not like that one. I tried it and Siri would always misunderstand whatever I said. Tell it to play a song and it would call Stacy or John, or anyone else. Whoever it called would never ever sound like the song I asked it to play.

People on the phone did say it sounded fine but they also said the Enfig sounded better comparatively, so considering Siri always hears me correctly with Enfig, to me that is the way to go over anything else.

I’m curious where this is coming from? Is your OBD function working without the dongle added to the truck? It would sure be nice if it worked that way, but on mine as soon as I disconnect the dongle I lose OBD. So I’m pretty sure you need it or need to do some custom wiring by finding the right pin on the radio harness to match a wire to.

The OEM HU had to have some CAN bus interface, it was able to get TPMS and fuel data. I don’t have the OBD plug hooked up and it can get all of the data from the car, gauges etc work. I do get this message when I first start up gauges, but like I said they work.

Yeah, I know the OBD goes to the stock head unit which is how the radio interacts with vehicle settings. I suppose I could look for the specific CAN wire on the radio plug that coincides with the one the dongle corresponds to on the OBD plug and then repin my HRN harness to make it plug and play. I just haven’t spent any effort on it.

Sure enough, I unplugged the OBD connector and everything still works perfectly. I don’t even get that message you get. Looks like my evening project will be removing the splitter and that wire!

Any of you Tech gurus know how to get rid of the icon on the right? It appears to be the Parking assit icon, maybe? It comes up everytime in reverse. Tried turning off parking assist nothing happens.. (Kenwood DMX1057XR)

That's not in User Interfaces > Parking Assist Display?

Not sure what that means? "That's not in User Interfaces" Does that mean nothing to do with all the wiring involved with the new install?

Are there any of you that have this pop up when you go to reverse?

He's asking to verify you're sure that the setting to turn that parking assist thing off isn't in user interfaces settings, and under the parking assist display options in there.

Have you tried touching the screen when it pops up? Mine says R cam when it’s in reverse and when I touch the screen it goes away . Touch the screen again and it goes back to whatever was on before I put it in reverse.

Check the Maestro settings in the Setup screen. This might be a setting related to their parking settings.

I just got my DMX1037S installed and I don't have the parking sensor screen appear at all. I do get front and rear cameras though.
