I disagree with this. Honestly......you could make the same argument about seat belts, or air bags, or collapsible steering wheels, or safety glass, or radial tires. These are all technologies that made driving safer for the drivers and the people they are slamming into.

Personally, I don’t think the yo-yo who is texting while driving will be more or less likely to do that with pre-collision tech or without, but with the pre-collision tech he is far less likely to rear-end my car, which I’m happy to avoid.

Thanks I was about to call the stealership. I had the same warning while it was pouring rain, and pre collision sensor disable, really I said to myself. I have driven the wife’s Honda in same type condition and never had an issue. From here on will be driving her car if the weather is bad lol.

Not heavy rain, but frost has disabled my sensor temporarily.

Yes it has. I was driving to Maryland during hurricane lee and it kept going on and off. Definitely not something you should trust on during severe weather, but its a good thing while it works. It will spam BRAKE!!! on small screen and keep beeping if you are to about rear end someone or something, happened to me once.

I am all in on safety devices that work correctly. Airbags saved my wife when she totaled a Camry and saved my daughter when she totaled a Scion. When safety devices do not work correctly, they are just another pain in the a**

During a heavy rain I had the sensor on the 2017 Highlander go crazy in a parking lot the other day and it kept alerting me. looked clean but I wiped it off anyway and the problem was solved.

Driving through the salt-basin in Badwater Basin / Death Valley. 50 MPH blew the salt off.

Anyone who relies on it to save them in fog needs to just pull 1/2 mile off the road and text to their hearts content waiting for the fog to lift.

I’ve had it turn off during heavy downpours and 4WD’ing.

I totally agree with you. Even though I don’t depend on these gadgets but isn’t that the sell pitch to sell them. I’m not a kid I’m in my 70s I had my share of high pursuits in Law Enforcement rain or no rain. I’m just trying say is that vehicle manufacturers should come with a solution for those who are not paying attention behind the wheel.

Wet snow that sticks to it always disables it on mine.

I might understand snow sticking to it, but just rain I have some trouble with that. Not that I’m depending on it. Is every dealership’s pitch to sell you these vehicles saying all the gadgets they have. I can only imagine how much more will be paying for car insurance if these gadgets don’t work properly or just under perfect conditions.

If the sensors are clean, the water will roll off and there is no problem. If there is a dirt film, not so much.

Use RainX on the grille emblem, it helps.

The TSB for the front sensor is apparently placing a foam sheet over the rear side of it. I wonder if that was rain related.

I declined the TSB due to it saying they need to disable the cruise control since I have a pro grill.

Yep, driving in a Michigan monsoon and all of a sudden I got money lights popping up on the dash.

They went away once I got off the highway.
