I say buy it. From what I noticed a lot of people on here expect a perfect truck without a single problem, like many have pointed out the 2nd gen had its share of problems and many of the problems the 3rd gen has are very small concerns. I have had vehicles that cost twice as much completely turn off and require a completely new computer because it got fried. These are machines and they will always have problems, these issues are being taken care of by Toyota. Most manufacturers would not offer the same type of support on these issues. Tacoma owners expect a perfect truck because of the previous gens reliability, if that's the case than you will never be happy, we are in a different world today and problems will continue. You must ask yourself are these issues affecting the truck to the point that I would not own one. To me it's a definite no, this truck can not be compared to anything else on the market in mid size truck segment. Do yourself a favor and buy the truck, don't use the computer (tacomaworld) for like 2 years and just enjoy it.

This era of Toyota was pretty much bombproof.

Reliable does not make it bug free. Like I said earlier there are bugs from previous generations that are still present in the 3rd gen. If you're looking for perfect look somewhere else. If you test drive a taco and decide you really like it, suits your needs and can live with some of the previous issues like sqeaky leaf springs, howling diff, thin paint, windshields that might crack easily, a pronounced lean on the driver side and a transmission that might require you to reset your normal driving patterns, it's the truck for you.

I've loved all 5 of mine.

FIRST GEN, time to go! 1998 TRD Pre Runner V6 Extra Cab, 245,000miles, Gonna miss her. It was driven hard and not pampered...6 years on the Bonneville Salt Flats and dry lake beds of the Mojave? Maybe shoulda spent more effort with those power washers... Salt = Rust, the fine powdery dirt of the dry lake gets Everywhere. Just surface rust tho...I think. Three collisions required new body parts and cheap Insurance Paint. To keep it, I'd have to Paint it, replace the shocks, parking brake assembly, wheels, tires, bedliner sprayed, seats, and who knows what else could show up. Not confident in selling it local, I will trade her in. I have the money to buy new. Can't wait till the 2018 models to arrive, I need it in the next couple weeks. Looking at Tacoma because the Tundra is too big. TRD Offroad with Tow pkg, 4x4. TRD/ or TRD Pro? What would you buy if you could?

Just did a true car price search for a 2017 TRD Tacoma 4x4 v6 AT, got blasted with 20 emails and 5 phone calls in 1 minute! I live in SoCal so I'm surrounded by the hounds, but I thought Wow, trying to off-load some inventory???

I recently bought the 2017 SR5 Double cab and towing package. So far I love it. Traded a 2015 Highlander for it and won't go back!
