Selling my 2007 tacoma with 235K miles and 4.0 and runs like a top.
My 2016 TRD offroad with 3.5 is a dog. I've had the tranny reprogram done, didnt help.
Lets face it, the 3.5 sucks for torque, constantly shifting, loud motor clicking and noisy.
MY 4.0 blow this motor away and it really is disappointment.

Im thinking my only option is a new exhaust, new intake, and maybe some sort of aftermarket chip or addressing of the Computer, no idea, I am new to this 3rd gen, not sure what can be done.

slow down, there are some solutions and they are also continually developing. i almost sold the truck in a fit in the first month of ownership due to the motor and I'm on a MT. luckily i slowed down and figured how to get my setup right, and it's totally awesome for me now. the point is if i rushed through it i never would have found how great it could be for my preferences.

It's a mini van engine they put in a truck. Did you expect anything less?

Put it on the floor, wait while it thinks a bit and the RPM's climb to about 4,000 and then it will jump to life.

I do agree with you. It has not been my favorite truck to drive. Fuel efficiency standards must be met and your driving experience is not as important to Toyota.

Trade it in for an SR with m/t before they are all gone. It at least feels like it should. Less powerful but feels like it should.

Trade it in. Chances are if you've done what say you've done and you still can't stand it, you'll be miserable until you're in something else. Plenty of other manufacturers make great vehicles.

    Tundra.

    Or buy a 2nd gen.

Or wait for the supercharger someday.

Take your right foot, angle said foot so your toe gets closer to the firewall. Increase angle in aforementioned way until desired speed is reached. If you would like to reach desired speed faster increase rate at which foot angle is increased:notsure:

Intake/ exhaust won't do anything. "Chips" are for 90s EFI vehicles...

The engine makes tq/hp up high in the rev range so wring that bitch out. It's not a motor from 1940, you can run it at high RPMs all day every day with no adverse effect.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the OVTune yet. From my limited knowledge on it, it makes the truck drive like it should.

Boggles the mind that some people buy a vehicle without test driving it first.

Word is a supercharger is on the way next year, that's likely your best option.

St. Germain did in a sideways manner. He, I look to for precision when it comes to the finer points of drivability. Dood gets right down to camber and shyte...he OVTuned his...ill let him opine should he desire.

I'll OVTune when they get the MT release down...and St. Germain blesses it. Untill then I'll keep enjoying it is as it is...fun as shyte to drive and know where the power band is.

honestly i just do not know how you guys can drive this thing, MT or not, with the stock Toyota ECU crap tune. i got along with the Pedal Commander to band aid the shit stock throttle mapping but it was still pretty weird and awful to drive. the OV tune on my ECU version is almost perfect: strong, progressive and linear with the timing advance and throttle control, and a big wack more torque right where you need it. it's awesome, fantastic, and drives like a pretty stout V6 should: normal. just not all weird and muted like from the factory. feels, sounds, and responds great and predictably.

i understand folks have different opinions and stuff, just keep the uninformed ones to yourself. if you haven't tried the OV tune on the latest MT ECU (v.04B12) then you are missing out BIG TIME.

Mine has too much power, going to trade it for something less powerful. Probably the tundra with the 5.7
