I used to purchase two 2x4's, lay them down with the tailgate up about 3 ft apart and all the way to the front, then lay the sheet rock on them.

Or you can buy a bigger truck :D

Yup, 2x4's or rent a trailer for an hour or two but as long as you aren't hauling a ton of sheetrock the 2x4s work well.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.

I fit a 4x8 sheet of MDF in mine. just put something under the middle of the rock so it don't break in half.

This , or if you look at the bedsides , there are two approx 1" deep x 7" depressions at a height about the same as the top of the wheel wells .

Cut a 2x4 or 2x6 to fit side to side and put one in the front depression , rest the back of the drywall on the tailgate .

I've hauled 4X12 sheet rock in my truck. Just put two 2X4's the length of your sheet rock riding on the tailgate and drive at speeds where it doesn't bounce to crazy.

I just realized the front depression might be a longbed only thing , not sure if there is one on a short bed .

Just put them over the wheel wells and have some center support. I have hauled a 4x12 sheet of drywall in my shortbed before.

I put 4x8 sheets of plywood in there all the time.

With the tailgate down you get about 6' and some change. I had some 12' 2x4's underneath that were strapped down in the front to my front D-rings to give it some support plus some ratchet straps hooked to the tailgate latches. I only had to go about 1.5 miles. I was putting in an 11' long knee/pony wall and wanted to limit my mudding and taping :D.
