I'm not going to lie but I was disappointed with the gear hunting too. I purchased the truck and immediately went on a 5 thousand miles road trip. The transmission hated 6th gear and it constantly would shift to 5th and it would take some work to get it back to 6th and 70mph.

I have 9000 miles now and the transmission is a million times better. I typically drive at 70 to 75 mph on the freeway and the transmission rarely every shifts to 5th like it used to. My job is an easy 5 mile drive but the girlfriend lives in Chicago and I regularly make the 90 mile drive there and have noticed a huge improvement sometime after the service check.

Dunno bout that. If my '13 had an ECO button, I'd use it all the time. Don't always need the power, just blowing through cash and fossil fuels for no good reason.

Thats because the tundra is a gas guzzler compared to the others and after the big 3's rebates you come out with more features and options with the others price wise, tundras aren't cheap by any means, I wouldn't be surprised if Toyota abandons it at some point.

With all the complaints that the 2016 does not power seats I think people would kill themselves without power anything. What new vehicles come with manual anything now a days??

Besides the manual seats, tailgate and bed cover, mine came with manual oil changes, radiator flushes, tire rotations, belt replacements and lots of other manual stuff.

Haha. When I wrote this song forgot these do come in manual transmission (which I have read zero complaints about). My Tacoma was a bit rough at first on the gear searching, but after 4K miles it's a whole lot better.

I hope not my dad recently bought a 2015 TRD off road. And it is awsome no it is not cheap, but will last a hell of a lot longer than the big three.

I like the 2015 I had and love the look of the front end. But my 2015 and my Dad's 05 DCLB are really noisey on the hwy. Me and my Dad noticed my 2016 DCSB is quieter and smoother on the road. We always averaged 17-18 mpg consistently in the 2nd gen. Today in my 2016, I drove over 20 miles at 65mph with little traffic and got 25.3 mpg. My transmission doesn't hunt for gears like everyone else saying. It upshifts early but it stays in 6th on the hwy until I try to pass someone then it downshift to 5th then back to 6th after you sped up. Seems normal to me.

I am not sure it also applies to manual tranny versions. I test drove a 2nd gen manual then few months later 3rd gen manual and yes, it felt less torquey (as much as my butt dyno could remember after few months), but felt more than adequate, and not necessarily slower. Also the manual tranny in 2016 is a significant improvement shifting and feel wise.

Never drove an auto Tacoma so can't say about that.

I also agree I liked shorter hood of the 2nd gen. But then everything else seems better in 3rd gen. Only if Toyota got their shit together and fixed the vibration issue. I am not buying Taco if they don't.

You're right about the hood on the 2016s. Sometimes I parallel park and think I'm 5 feet from the car in front of me. I get out and realized I'm actually 10 or 15 feet away. Never did that in my 2nd gen.
