I too had a loaner 2015 sport 4x4 truck while a warranty fix was done on my new 2016 over a weekend. I had a much different impression....it reminded me too much of my 2013 I traded in ....LOUD and rough ride down the road and gas mileage sucked too. Glad I got the new 2016!!

My Tacoma gets 21 MPG average. It has a lot of power, and a nice ride.

It is a truck definately not a pinto.

    Or a BrokeBack Mountain pickup.

I hated the first 2nd gen too but the grill on the 2013+ made me want a Tacoma again instead of a 01-04

I had the 4.0 in my 2011 DCLB and the performance is a distant memory but I do remember very poor MPG numbers. I bought the 2016 for better MPG and I'm thinking, WTH did I do???:rant::rant:

The 3rd Gen's have a much better interior, and it is not even close. The 2nd Gen interior is 10 years old along with its technology. When I sit in a 2nd Gen I think it is 1999 all over again. The engine may perform better on the 2nd Gen, but the gas mileage is going to be worse. Except for the people who claim ridiculous MPGs. Manufacturers are in a race for MPG numbers, and that is the way of the future. If you don't like that, you won't like when they mandate all cars be self-drive in about 30 years haha :). Also, road noise and everything else is much improved on the 3rd Gen. The 3rd Gen is the best truck I've ever owned. I honestly don't know what people are complaining about. My friends with 2nd Gens would kill to have a 3rd Gen.

I have a 2nd gen and wanted a 3rd gen until I test drove it. The only thing I like better about the 2016 after driving it is the look of the interior, but after sitting in it I think my seat is more comfortable.

Yup, I've actually seen just under 24 highway. Summer is probably an average of 19 for me too.

Worst case scenario for me is about 15 MPG, which can happen on a particularly cold week in the winter (which doesn't count so much because a lot of it is idling) or if I am driving over 70.

I went with a Nissan Frontier.

Now, I would have just bought another 2nd gen but it had a few drive ability issues inherent to the design that I hated. It did not seem over built like my previous Toyota trucks, just adequate.

The 3rd Gen just isn't enough of improvement from my 2006. The smaller V6, The old chassis and components, The overdone styling, the extra weight.. just nah. Doesn't interest me enough to spend $38,000cad for the one I'd want.

2nd genners hate the 3rd gen but spend more time talking about it than 3 gen owners...Shit I can't drive down the street without 2nd genners eye raping my 3rd gen...but oh you hate it...lmmfao....No worries keep your old truck it's simple. JMHO..when I don't like something I don't spend time typing or talking/ looking at it...

I don't hate the 3rd gen at all. I really like the looks, the new equipment and the ride,I was just disappointed with the low end power of the truck. As far as 2nd gen owners "eye raping" your truck that's a Tacoma thing not a 3rd gen thing. Same thing happened in my 2009 and now my 2014 and when I drove my brother's 1st gen.

This isnt shit to when the 2nd Gens came out in 05... the value of my 2003 went up after all the shit talk. There were very few on the forum like 1 in a 100 that would trade to the bigger truck
