Have you looked into the Banks I-dash or a ScanGauge, both would give you a digital tach and speedometer with no extra sensors or wiring as well as view data from most other sensors on the engine and read/clear engine/transmission trouble codes.

Lotek is the only one that makes a pillar for our trucks.

    http://www.gaugepods.com/toyota.html

Dremel and custom fitting are required as they are not the best fitting and the color is slightly off from standard grey. Any other colors you have to paint yourself.

Tach and speedometer would require obd connection for the gauges, on top of being not very useful choices (doesn't your truck already have a tach and speedo?). Oil pressure, fuel pressure or temp gauges for example are much useful.

As an educated guess it's gonna cost upwards of $250-300 at a minimum.

Your dash already has one speedometer and one tach correct? You would be displaying duplicate info on the aftermarket gauges is all I'm saying. If it's what you want it's what you want I guess.

There's a couple speedometer calibration choices out there that add a unit behind the gauge cluster to correct the reading.

Yeah I have seen those also and you are right it would be like having double definitely want the speedometer but could go with another gauge trans, water, oil something like that
I just really like the a- pillar look

They do look sweet. Been considering it myself.

One issue is there is an airbag in the pillar so the gauges will become projectiles in the event it deploys. It's the only reason I've been on the fence about it. Lots of guys run them though in the boosted crowd.

Yeah looked into that also don’t need a speedometer to the head!! But looking at it don’t think that would be a issue
Also have seen a lot of a-pillar mounts that supposedly fit know anything about those? Think a lot of them for the most part are universal fit. On eBay that is.

Don't know of anyone with universal fit but my understanding is lots of using a heat gun to mold and trimming would be required to make it look decent.

Also, a remote speedometer gauge will show the same (wrong) value as your dashboard speedometer if it plugs into odb. Unless there is a gauge that uses a gps signal you would need to correct your speedo somehow if you want the correct speed to show.

I run an AEM gps Speedo with my oversized tires. Works quite well.

    And an AEM volt gauge.

now the alternative to an a-pillar pod type setup is the cravenspeed flex pod steering column gauge mount that can hold 2 gauges.

I went the cheapo route, got 2 single gauge holders, bolted them to the a-pillar and drilled a hole for each to run wires into the pillar.

39C1FAE4-83BC-4DE2-9A54-F775E06F03E0.jpg Well I ended up going with the Craven Speed. Seems after a lot of forums and speaking to Lotek directly the a-pillar mount wouldn’t fit correctly on my 2015 Tacoma and besides that I’m pretty happy with the craven. Maybe once I got my truck all cleaned up I’ll put out some pics of my Tacoma .
