Me: I'll just copy the chat I was having with my buddy. Thoughts need. Thx.

Me: got a question for your mechanical mind. On the way to our off road excursion yesterday, the guy behind me said he saw my driver rear tire just barely wobbling. Like hardly noticeable and maybe even thought it was an optical illusion. So I got out on the hiway after the run and dropped my outside mirror to look and it surely was, like barely even a quarter inch but a wobble still.

    Brian:Bent wheel?
I'd have it balanced to see

Me: Cant feel anything, no vibrations inside the truck or anything. Just rotated both rears to the opposide sides, went for a ride and there is still wobble. So I jacked the truck up, started it and looked at both from behind. Wobble in both
Wheel bearings are tight, no wobble at all.
both rims cant be bent exactly the same
no way could I have bent both axle shafts exaclty the same.
so.....I just had these rotated front to back while I was in indiana, both rears now were on the front.
Is it possible that when I ran them on the front, they both could have developed out of roundness? all my allignments were coming in within spec.

    Brian:
    That's independent axles?
    Separate? Or straight
But the wobble is only in the rear both sides??
    Me:yea
but both tires used to be on the front.
    till 2 weeks ago.

    Brian:Hold up
Me:same exact wobble on both sides. If I had some type of runout gauge I bet the tires are off but the rims arent

Brian:I'm in a Tacoma forum. Not seeing much. Mostly front ends
    Me:im in my forums.
    I'll ask here.

    Brian:What year is that?
Me:Has to be tires out of round or distorted from being on the front. I guess I can rotate the fronts to the back tommorow and see if it still exists.

    2002

Brian:You ever do the chalk test? See if your pressure is to low or high for highway? Prob not related
Some people use water on pavement
no, but my tires wear very even at 40psi.

    Me:Yea
even with the full time locker in the rear.

Brian:Everyone keeps saying axel shafts but no way
Me:no way i could have bent both shafts exactly the same.

Brian:And or bearings but surely yours isn't that serious
Brian:Nope, bearings on both sides are tight, no wobble when I check it.

Brian:You have stocker wheels or tires in storage?
Me:no, im just going to rotate the fronts back to the back. Almost garentee there will be no wobble then. It just simply cant be anything else.

Brian:One guy said let the truck idle in gear on a jack. He used a laser pointer to see any wobble he may have had in the hubs
With the wheels off I mean
Me:lol. Cant take the wheels off but maybe I can find a runout gauge.
I mean tires off teh rim.

    Brian:True
Me:But thanks. I'll try my theory first and just rotate.
    It cant be anything else.

    Brian:Sorry I'll keep reading though
    ok man. thx.
Me:I'll ask on my tacomaworld forums.
