I'm curious if/how others here have modified their driving due to the rise in gas prices.

As an example, here's my deal...my wife works from home where as I commute everyday (about 30 mins each way). So, I take the Subaru and leave the truck parked. Parked. Parked. Parked.

Parked for a week at a time, often 2 weeks at a time with NO driving. Yes, I only drive it every 2 weeks or so. Further, I was hoping to go fishing every few weekends up in the mountains this spring and that's not happening either; it takes me 3/4 tank to get there and I have to "top off" to get home :spending:

How are you changing your Taco habits with gas prices?

Absolutely! My company F150 gets 3-5 better, when prices are as stupid as they are, that makes a difference.

I try to ride my bike as much as possible, rather than driving, but the prices have made it much easier to stay in the habit lol

You could drive slower to use less gas and the plus would be you would be spending more time in the truck due to the longer travel times...

    Taco time still daily driver.

What makes gas price bearable is my previous work trip was 80 miles (round trip) and now it's 20 miles.

I’m lucky, I get a company van 5 days a week. I run premium SFOB tune so here it’s about 2.50 per litre. Although, last time I filled up was 3 weeks ago.

If taco was my daily driver, I would still keep on driving the same way. I mean the way prices are now, for an average driver the difference is maybe 100$ a month, maybe.

So unless you make minimum wage or whatever, it’s not a big deal IMO. People spend way more than that at Starbucks every month.

I drive it more conservatively. Which is ironic as I just had the damned supercharger installed in Feb. :frusty:

I'm just curious...I read an article recently that said the "average" driver curtails their driving habits when gas goes over $4/gal. Now it's closer to $5/gal on a national average. Don't get me wrong I can "afford" to drive mine, I'm not destitute. That's not the point rather, I'm CHOOSING not to. It's not like i'm pleading poverty here or anything like that. It just seems wasteful when I have the Subaru as a no-downside alternative while I commute 250(+/-) miles/week and filling up 1/week. Hell, I could drive it up to the mountains and go fishing too if I was really jonesing for it. Enjoying the responses so far.

Motorcycles are where it's at. If it's above about 40* and not raining too much I'll take a bike and get either 50mpg or 75mpg depending on which one. More fun and far less expensive to fill up.

Mine is a daily driver, I have a manual so now I tend to drive it a bit more conservatively and shift at around 2-2.5K RPM and I'm getting good mileage that way.
