Please There are people who are able to get a extra car. The re-sale value should be very good.
Accounting point of view may show negatives?
Plus side - less mileage on the Tacoma odometer, possible higher re-sale value.
2- if using Camry for a daily driver to work, cheaper to run. easy to drive , park, more comfortable.

Yes, The down side is owning more then one vehicle will cost more for insurance , maintenance, plus monthly payments.
But if you can? Why not!
    Aloha

Just saw a story by Consumer reports. The top 10 SUV’s for gas mileage. The first top threes were Toyotas at 37 mpg.

I put that amount in my truck this past week because my daughter, son-in-law and wife took it to Baltimore (from Dover) to help our eldest & her hubby move into a newer apartment last weekend.

It started out with a full tank of gas and I drove it 2 days (Mon/Tue) to work before I put 17 gallons and spent $75. I think the price was over $4 but under $5. Obviously, I'm not paying attention to the price per gallon since I'm gonna fill up no matter what.

    I will continue tanking-up when I get to 3/4 tank...which usually is once a week/10 days.

I drive to work M-F, maybe 9 miles per day, round trip. If we need to drive my wife's 2.0L Elantra for weekend errands, we can do that to save some money.

I was stationed at Hickam, AFB Oahu from 1999-2003.

Before my PCS (Permanent Change of Station), most everyone warned me about how expensive food is going to be and that I would get "Island Fever".

Of course we get here and none of that was true...in my case.

My wife, who is a Red-Headed Scottish Lass did not enjoy Beach Time like my daughters and me. No matter if she put on 1000 SPF, she still would get red skin because she is so pale!

As long as my daughters and I wore sunblock, we'd just get that darker tan!

I'm glad we lived on-base...I know it was a hassle every day getting on/departing the base. It still was an enjoyable assignment that my family will never forget.

Glad you had a great time at on the island of Oahu. Military base have there own food market stores and way cheaper then anywhere else.

Many Hawaii veterans take advantages of shopping on base. Can’t beat the super low prices.

Actually it’s not. If the truck isn’t paid for. Plus the monthly cost of insurance on both and it’s a hybrid so it not even full electric.

Only a few people get to have a chance to visit all the islands. Each island has it’s own style , the people, the scenery.
Never got a chance to go fishing on Hickam Air Force base, heard they have some great good fishing spots.
I did get to go fishing in Pearl Harbor and on Ford island. And on Kaneohe marine base.. windy & great fishing.
Today so hard for non- military to go fishing on any military bases.

I have no problem with picking up a second vehicle to drive most of the time, and use the truck for longer camping trips where I want to go off road. What kinda sucks here is that because of the truck bed, the vehicle has commercial plates, while an suv or car with an enclosed cargo area has passenger plates. It only costs $28 to switch plates between vehicles of the same classification/plate (from 40mpg car ->SUV for example), which would be great for when you want to do camping trips 5-6 times a year, but you can't switch plates here between commercial and passenger plates. That kinda sucks, as I am not a big fan of paying insurance at $1300 a year on two vehicles that get used infrequently, but at the same time, I cant think of a manual transmission suv as fun and capable as the Tacoma that I can sleep in.
What are plate laws like for anyone else out there?

Definitely, gas this morning was $5.95 at the gas station I frequent.
my commute is around 100 miles round trip Monday - Friday.

I used to drive my truck to work twice a week at minimum.
Now I only drive my 12' Honda.

I rarely use it on the weekends now, my wife got a 22' Highlander and we mainly use that as our family vehicle.
It has significantly more space than the Tacoma so its by far more comfortable.

Hoping to use it a lot more now that summer is here.

I used to live in PG but moved even farther north. Everything is so much more compact here that even though it takes me weeks to go through a tank in my truck it still isn't economical. I'd rather go a month and a half on a 38L tank than 2 weeks on a 72L tank.

I’m driving this nice little Prius getting over 50 mpg around town. Also got a hybrid Lexus while my Tacoma is used just a couple times a week

Mostly electrical shit that nobody cares about.
    https://www.globalpetrolprices.com/gasoline_prices/

Literally don't give a shit about the gas prices. The vast majority of this world pays more than we do per gallon. China is at $5.20, Canada is at $6.25 Italy is at $7.23... $7.70 in UK and Portugal. Hong Kong $10.96.

I'm tired of being the only country that complains about this shit. I know we drive more than they do and we drive larger cars than they do... so if you don't like it, downsize? I didn't buy a truck for it's fuel economy.

We understand the frustrations. Went the cost of one thing rises, so does everything else.
Minimum wages for instance, we can raise it as much as they want to, the cost will only be past on.

There is no way paying everyone more more money will it let us catch up to the rising prices! Cost to pay workers goes up , so will the cost to do business, and the prices of goods and services goes up!

As gas stations buys its gas, there cost goes up, so price of gas goes up. The delivery truckers cost up as well too, in the end we all pay for it.

Walking is healthy. No more one dollar burgers? I remember buying 4-burgers for a dollar a long time ago.
High school days gas was 33 cents per gallon. Wages was $1.20?

B-4 (Before) life will never be like B-4. !

Canada is at $7.55 average a gallon over 10 provinces, if you included the territories prices would probably jump to nearly $9 a gallon.

We complain a lot up here, don't worry. Like you said though if you buy a truck you didn't buy it for fuel economy. That's what a small beater car is for. :D

I found a guy in my province who actually created a spreadsheet with real world data in our province between real cost, and cost at pumps for fuel. It's not inflation, it's pure greed and artificial gouging. Billionaires are billionaires for a reason, they CAPITALIZE off of people at the lower rungs and abuse human rights to get the price per worker they want. There's nothing driving costs more than the greed of the rich, and the disdain for the lower class(es) - IE anyone making under 6 figures a year, which isn't even considered lower class whatsoever here.

These gas prices have certainly changed my Taco time.
I'm commuting in the work more by bike (the silver one in the background) and saving long adventures for my rig.

Taco is my daily however, I do work hybrid (in office/at home) so that has definitely helped with the gas consumption for sure.

Due to inflation, the ever nebulous and oft referred to "Middle Class" has been replaced by the "Upper Lower Class".
