We should all just start ending our posts with Aloha just to piss off all the schmucks that seem to be so bothered by it

I'd agree its more costly to live today than 3 years ago, but as far as buying a home it depends where. You may need to do what i did 20 years ago before retiring...Move. We now have a larger home, and yard with waterfront plus a lower property tax mill rate.

The only thing that has altered my driving (number of miles per week/month) has been the Covid situation. Previous to the "everyone work from home" mandates in March 2020, I had a 50 mile per day round trip to my office. Ever since then, I have worked from home. But that has been the only change in my driving habits.

I give the single finger salute to the powers that be who are artificially driving the mass inflation in order to try to change and control our daily lives. I will not participate.

My day to day use of my Tacoma has not changed. Thankfully my average daily mileage is only ~16 miles.

However, I do do a lot of canyoneering, hiking, biking, rock climbing, things like that. Things that require significant drives to access.

We used to simply hop in the Tacoma and go wherever, as it is always packed and ready to go, we don't forget things, plus it can go anywhere, dirt roads are of no concern to it.

But, since gas has increased so drastically, we still do all of those things, but now we pick places that the GF's new Prius can access easily. Trailheads off of paved roads, or down well maintained dirt roads. 3 gallons of gas in her car compared to 18 gallons in the Tacoma? You bet I'm driving a Prius. 60+ mpg sure as hell beats the abysmal mileage the Tacoma gets.

48 mpg today I still drive a bunch. Rather than bitch and complain I bought something that gets decent mileage

Have gas prices affected my driving habits? You bet! I work from home more often, so I can use that fossil fuel to explore more!

My company has me drive a separate vehicle for work, so my own truck hasn't been sued for daily driving in over a year and a half. The work Tacoma is a stock 2wd, so even though I'm not paying the gas bill the extra range from running 23-25 mpg instead of 17-19 mpg is still nice for reducing refueling stops.

Taking my wife's 2017 Elantra to Baltimore, MD today instead of my Sport. Our daughter & son-in-law moved to new apartment and also PARTLY celebrated her 32nd Bday yesterday--SIL caught Covid last weekend and is just about over his symptoms.

The Elantra gets at least 30+mpg. Her oil change/tire rotation last month at Dover, AFB Auto Hobby Shop.

I've heard that gas has gotten so expensive people haven't gotten a job to afford it!

Time is the one thing you cannot get back. I tell all the padawans at work to Invest at least as much as needed to get the company match in the 401k. You never see it, so you can never spend it. The difference between investing for 30 years versus 40 years is major.

Invest in index stocks, then start branching out to other funds and /or individual stocks.

Good investing habits will ensure spikes in gas prices won’t impact taco time.

I’m fortunate enough that my job pays me a monthly vehicle stipend and pays for gas. Used to be a field tech now I have a desk, my commute is 25 miles round trip. I fill up on mondays or fridays and unless I do an out of state trip I haven’t paid for gas in about 3 years.

I spend $50 a week on gas to drive, seems like that has been the average since I began driving, no matter what I drive.

Put some beautiful 31/10.5/15 on, just took them off and put 235/15/75s back on, there is about a 14 pound difference. Hope to improve mileage. It was averaging around 17-18 around town (2.5 L, 5-Speed) I do love to rev up the gears some. Last fill was just above 16mpg. I guess I should be content since 82 million people voted for this

Just filled up the wife’s car for a road trip tomorrow. $6.47 a gallon here in the Bay Area.
