Well since lifting a tow rig is retarded IMO, I'd sell the Chevy.

I wouldn't sale either one. I might sell one or the other but I would probably get a sail boat for saleing(sp).

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Sounds like you already want to sell the Duramax. In the long run, the Taco will last longer and cost lest on maintenance. Sure you already know, but when a diesel starts going downhill, they will nickel and dime you to death in repair costs. New injectors alone on one cost about 1k a piece. And since this is a Toyota forum my vote will always be keep the Yota and stay on TW!

That's with a loaded bed and bumper towing a 30' trailer. I definitely do not have a heavy foot in either my Tacoma or the Duramax. Empty I can get 21 on the highway, and that's in a 3500 dually. Of the 73,000 miles on my truck, I've had a trailer attached for 71,000 of those miles so it doesn't matter what I get unloaded.
When I'm driving the tacoma I average around 17-19 but that seems to be the norm around here.

That makes more sense. Your original post led me to believe you were getting sub-9 MPG unloaded which means you'd have to have your foot buried in the skinny pedal or something is wrong with the truck. If you tow with the Tacoma the MPG's go in the crapper also. Unloaded, as a daily driver, the diesel will do better than the Tacoma but the maintenance and upkeep is more expensive.

The 17 - 19 range for the Tacoma unloaded seems to be what most get with the V6.

Keep the Duramax. A diesel truck is much nicer even compared to a Tacoma

ive owned both trucks..i sold my 05 dmax in 2008 cause of fuel cost at the time was killing me, and i knew the diesel resales were about to drop big time! 2 months after i sold mine there was trucks just like it with less miles going for $5k less then i sold mine for!! i knew that would happen...but now diesel trucks value are back up so its tuff to say.. i always said if i didnt drive a diesel it would be a tacoma is only other truck id buy!! we bought a 7.3L powerstroke for towing so i didnt need my dmax much any more so tacoma here i came!! id love to have my tacoma for a DD and a diesel to build and play with on weekends..thats my next goal, soon as the taco is paid for
