Was going between 35 and 40. I should have taken a picture of the area, but you could imagine it as a washboard with two eroded channels near the left side of the road. Yes, the system detected a frontal impact and rollover which set off the curtain and seat air bags (based on what Toyota told me). My guess is that it came down to timing...felt like the suspension didn't have time to rebound before it hit the second which drove the driver side tire further up in the wheel thus the skid plate hitting the ground. Again, truck sits fine, barely a scuff on the skid plate, but alignment is off and they never checked the frame because the cost was already above the threshold.

I remember reading a thread about this guy. The story on the driver is he actually did try to defraud the insurance agency "I was just driving along" and enough people heard about the bad faith claim that an email was "mysteriously" sent to his insurance...with all the negative consequences you might expect.

This is exactly what I would do,screw the airbags, people drove for 80 years with no airbags and some still do.

Got in a crash in a 67 Corvair Corsa (i know, i know.. ‘unsafe at any speed’). 86yo woman on her way to the eye doctor turned left in the right lane into the side of us and pushed us off the road into a hydrant. No airbags, lap belts only. Its okay, I stopped my forward momentum with my face. On the windshield. Was almost killed, extracted from the vehicle. She KEPT DRIVING. Bystander blocked her car and she rammed him trying to leave. Im happy to have my Taco pluff around me in a crash after being extracted from a ‘classic’ that doesnt pluff, people are crazy af out there. Although I still drive my 79 Scout II, slowly. Very slowly. :)

I hit a 100 lb dog that ran into the road, in a Camry hybrid (it was a work vehicle). There was no noticeable damage to the outside of the car, aside from the license plate being bent back... and ALL of the airbags in that car deployed. Front and back.

That NEVER should have happened, and Toyota knew it. It's an issue.

I was involved in a 4 car collision last year. Hit very hard from the back, thrown into car ahead of me but airbags never deployed. Still cost ins comp 15k to fix.

That really sucks man sorry :(

So are the lights for sale even with the broken tabs?

Another member asked to buy them already. I'm sorry. Plus, I have to see if I can get access to them...insurance might be a little irritated if they see that the headlights are missing.

Lights aside, I was in the same boat as you. I wanted mine totaled but in the end they decided to fix it. If I were you I would replace every after market thing you had with whatever you can dig up. Unless you were specifically ins for a certain amount of after market parts and more importantly have all the receipts they will not cover that. You probably know all this but just throwing it out there.
Good luck man! I had to pay for a rental car for 6 weeks while mine got fixed. That was the worst part! Lessons upon lessons.
