you miss the point. or you are playing semantics.

saying "he was in favor of bankruptsy", without understanding the managed bankruptsy and other facts (like the loan guarentees)...

is the bumper sicker/talking points crap.

you do realise GM DID claim bankruptsy in the end anyway? right? you do understand the share holers got screwed right? you do know GM will NEVER pay back a large sum of tax payer dollars right?

you have to know this. you also have to know what was done was for poitical purposes correct?

That's not true. Stockholders have always been on the bottom of the list in bankruptcy (they're the owners of the company). Secure creditors are paid first (financing for buildings, land, equipment), then bondholders (unsecure creditors) and what is left (usually nothing) is for stockholders.

I'll tell you why I will never buy another GM..after driving them exclusively from 17 years old till last month at near 39.

My 2006 Chevy Colorado at 78K (right after it was paid off haha) had the CEL come on in late June 2012. The dealer checked and told me it was the cylinder head..$3000. I did some research and found that there was a bulletin on the 04-06 heads for a 7yr/100k extended warranty, based on it being defective. The dealer claimed not to know about it prior and confirmed mine was eligible for the replacement.

5 weeks later I call and the new service mgr is telling me the head is not the issue and won't be replaced. I took it to another dealer (where the first service mgr was). Waited 2 whole weeks and got socked for almost $2000 for a cam and timing chain that the head had ruined. Dealer said they were sorry they couldn't "comp" it but to call corporate and they would do it.

Corporate 3 weeks later finally responds saying they don't do that, the dealer has to. They offered me 4 free oil changes for my trouble. Right!

Service mgr then tells me "it's not my job to give out freebies" and that he's done with me. The owner then tells me that they didn't even request help from GM because "they don't like to do that so we didn't bother". My guess is the labor reimbursement being $30 an hour less (times 12 hours) plus losing markup on parts might have something to do with it.

I'm currently trying to get a manager at GM to speak to me. They were supposed to call me over a week ago. Didn't happen.

The corporate fellow seemed to feel my experience was "common". I told the guy at corporate about the Tacoma buyback that my wife was in 4 years ago..asked him if he thought it was more common for a 13 yr old truck in New England to have rust issues, or a 5 yr old "professional grade" truck with 78K fastidiously maintained that's not "worked" to need half an engine. He didn't answer.

THAT is why GM is in trouble. To me it's not that the issue happened, it's how they dealt with it.

don't forget, ...we've got a lot of delphi employees here in OH who lost their pensions with their jobs, as a direct result of the "restructuring" that took place... ...but the UAW made out like bandits, literally... something smells rotten...

My comment was in regards to bankruptcy. Shareholders are never first. I was not in favor of the bailout.

Economy? Yeah, kinda but mostly we're talking about an American company selling out to communists at US taxpayers expense - same thing the government does. Smells like treason, tastes like treason, looks like treason, feels like treason.......but it must just be my imagination.

Think about this 25% of all workers in this country have ties to the auto industry a huge co. like GM goes bust how many people are now out walking the streets with no job? How would you like to support them? Or maybe we’ll just let them starve with no money to pay their loans then the banks collapse, hopefully you can see where that might go. Ever wonder why Toyota has plants here? Well it’s the same reason GM has plants in China. China is a huge market VW is the number seller (China motors in Germany? I don’t hear them whining) GM would like to have some of that also and they are doing a pretty good job of it. This is an election year I have heard more straight out lies than ever before a little piece of miss information turns into some thing as stupid as “China motors”

100% of us will have ties to a communist country and it's govermental needs and wants the way all this is headed. That's gonna be really cool right? China's fiscal invasion and all the ignored illegal immigration's physical invasion are both gonna be good for us all, I can just feel it.
