Actually my roommate had this happen 5-6 years ago to his S-10, though it was done by vandals pushing it into the water.

Yup, they got prison time out of that one.

I thought this was going to be me! The first time I launched my boat with my brand new truck, (a 5 spd) as I tried to pull of the ramp the dunlops just spun as the truck inched closer to the water's edge. After a couple of attempts and only sliding backwards, I remember about the auto LSD. As soon as I turned on the auto LSD, the truck crawled up the ramp as though you were in 4w low, without any wheel slip at all. I was sold on the auto LSD from that point forward. I am not suggesting its like a 4WD, but you would think I just put it in 4WD based on the feel and how it seemed to crawl off the ramp. Use it everytime I drop now.

I cover a reservoir on busier holiday weekends. I've seen people sink their truck, boat, and trailer at the same time.

No, not my Taco, but my first truck I sunk the rear end launching a boat in the salt. It was an old 56 GMC and the E brake didnt hold well. I had a few people get in the bed and jump up and down to give me some traction on the mossy boat ramp. It was a close call.
A month later my rear axle bearings burnt out from the salt water.

I haven't sunk mine yet, but I can say I do know first hand the door seals do not seal water from coming in :(

X2.. I see it almost yearly at our family marina. Pretty funny until it clogs up the boat ramp on a busy weekend because some douche didn't have his e-brake adjusted or on.

Moral of the story: adjust your rear brakes.

And for gawd's sake turn the engine off, put it in park or leave it in gear with the parking brake set. One of those rubber wheel blocks for big trucks isn't a bad idea either.

And if I see one more dumbass with their kids sitting in their idling truck while daddy is putting the boat on the trailer, I am going to explode. Those are your CHILDREN, dumbasses!

Now, forgetting to put the infamous "plug" back in the boat before launching.....that's just funny.....don't care who you are!:D

People roll off boat rams into the water all the time. When I was diving in a lake once I helped some guys attach a tow rope to a truck that had rolled back into the water when the driver got out to help with unstrapping the boat. It wasn't in very deep and they could have done it themselves but since the water was 45 degrees and I was already in cold water gear I thought I'd lend a hand.

Edit: I'm always a little bit paranoid with my truck around water; the first thing I do when I get out is to go find me some rocks and chock all my tires.
