Tacoma is getting re-borne, there's a WA State history museum downtown(old art deco train stn) next to the Museum of Glass(ala Chihuly). Great old brick facade buildigs line the waterfront district...not so bad now!

Just like any larger city there are nice areas and some not so nice. Tacoma has a reputation for stinkyness. This came from the pulpmills that used to operate there.
There are some beautiful locations though in Tacoma.
I live on the outskirts of Tacoma in the city of Puyallup. It's a nice area but nothing special. Personally glad I don't live in some place like say Seattle. Traffic is horrible. Prices high, and they too have some ghetto areas.
I don't think you can find too many cities over 100,000 that don't have their share of Ghetto.

There is a Toyota dealership located in Tacoma, WA. So it is possible for someone to purchase a Tacoma Toyota Toyota Tacoma in Tacoma, WA. (Read this again very slowly if you just woke up, or had a drink...or another...or...)

It is the slaughter house and processing plant that is most to blame. Lots of livestock head to our tables from there.

Yes, there is quite a big difference between downtown parts of Seattle/Tacoma and Sammamish.
