One of the guys at the Toyota dealership told me there have been lots of injector issues with the new Tacomas. He said a customer bought one with 16 miles on it and on his way home it went into limp mode. After getting it towed to 1 dealership who couldn't fix it, they sent it to my local dealer and finally figured it out. He quickly shut up once we realized he just told me a bunch of stuff he probably shouldn't have.

Just thought everyone should get a heads up...

    [Edited]

I was planning on buying the salesman's personal Tacoma so he could buy a 2016 and this is when he told me about the issues they've been having with the Tacomas. He followed by saying he is going to keep his 2013 and wait for them to figure out the issue.

I'm no expert just trying get some info out there.

If this is true, I would bet it is a V6 issue with the Direct Injection in Atkinson mode. Just did my 5K maintenance, have the 4 cylinder and zero issues. Was thinking about the V6, but the new 3.5 with Atkinson and direct injection made me think there would be too many problems. If it was the older 4.0 V6, I would have done it in a second.

He was. I have a good friend that's a master tech at that dealership, I'm gonna have him fill me in this weekend. I've been considering buying one, but now I kinda want to wait till they work out all the bugs.

I can give you common problems with every new car model in my product line. Doesn't mean people shouldn't buy the other 99.5% made without issues

I heard on the Internet that a guy knows a guy that heard from...

No offense, but I don't think starting a post like this offers up much credibility. Even if you are right.

Starting off with "Warning", followed by "a guy I know", followed by "lots of injector issues", followed by 1 example of an issue... Hmmm.

I just double checked, my 2016 shipped without injectors, maybe Toyota did a mid-production update. My fuel mileage is excellent as a result, but I'm constantly late for things.

You should do the FFB mod. It should help and no injectors needed!
