I was searching for a catch can online and stumbled across this. This dude is saltier than the dead sea and unintentionally hilarious.

    http://neverbuyatacomaoffroad.com/

TLDR: Amateur does a water crossing, hydrolocks his engine, punches a hole in his block and blames everything but himself.

Yeah that guy is a whiny kook. Bought into the Tacoma life, got butthurt when he realized life holds you to big boy rules. Hopefully he goes back to Subaru’s and keeps his bullshit out of this subculture.

Quits his job. Buys a brand new truck to take through serious terrain with his family. Makes up a web page to bitch out instead of sucking up the abuse.

It makes you wonder if not once did the guy pop the hood and check fluid levels.

The real world these days. All I have to say is wow!

too Many variables, the trailer and weight he carried, how heavy footed he was on the gas.

I’ve taken my truck in some nasty spots and haven’t had a scratch on it, or had any engine issues.
To be fair I’m very cautious when on uneven terrain.
Had two Jeeps before the Tacoma and the Tacoma has been more reliable than both combined.

    None....yet.
Seems like he made some mistakes I would expect someone who doesn't know how to drive a truck he just bought would make. I dont believe that one pic is all the water he crossed....and that was on his way OUT of the water (can see his rear end deeper than the front)...who knows how deep it really was or how much time he spent in the water. He needs to calm down, take a midol, and read this forum more before he goes and trashes another truck due to incompetence.

Hes wrong. Even contactee me for an article bashing tacomas. If your doing steep hill climbs due to the design of the pcv system the oil pools a bit at the back of the valve cover and the truck will start to suck oil through the pcv into the intake causing smoking and if you get wild can hydrolock your engine. It is a design flaw that even the jeep wranglers have issues with. A catch can solves this problem. This company make a direct fit kit to solve the issue

Serious question... what happened to his Tacoma then?

He forded some water. Seemed ok. Did a hill climb. Burned some oil. Brought it in. Then several days passed and he blew it on a highway.

Sounds like he was low on oil or something. Or am I not reading right?

Partial one sided story. I believe he had developed a water ninja in his air box.

It’s a super efficient pipeline. I’ve heard they hold you at a transfer station complete with snacks and brochures of all the things toyota pickup people have been doing for decades, so they can pretend they know what they’re talking about as soon as they’re dropped off on the lot.

The dude in question decided he wanted to impress his bro’s at the web based advertising firm he worked at in SF, dropped the rover and bought a flannel and an axe and tried his best to go rugged. It lasted all of a week before he had to call in the wambulance.

I've driven my 5-lug through flash-flooded streets with water up to the rocker panels before, and guess what? Nothing happened!

    :muscleflexing:

I've also driven up steep inclines before and my truck has never spewed white or blue smoke! I'm about to hit 110K miles and have never had a problem!

I’ve stalled my 3.4 by being on an incline too high unless it was the water, it started up. Sent it into water that was up to the front bumper that was covered in ice, and it was fine. Part of the story seems to not be included
