    Just bought a new driver's side for $180 since the webbing was coming apart. It looks like redoing the webbing is about $100 so I just ponied up for a entire new unit since that should fix the weak retracting issue as well.

    Damn I sure dodged a bullet there....10/97...mine the cheap one was $172 from one the online toy dealers.....
    And if I had the explosive one....I'd replace with the older passive one...
    even if I had to live with a code....

    On plus side.....the new one is butter smooth....almost a pleasure to use....big difference....
    even the 'Click' is way better....crazy

    i dont have a webbing problem but the retraxt problem, mines a 97 base model reg cab, would mine have the explosive thing whatever it is

    Well I have mfg date of 9/97 and have old style......second OP has mfg date exactly three months later and has new blow up one...

    Even if you have the new one.....damn sure would not put that back in...dealer might be on to something there....they hardy ever say 'sorry keep your money'...

    pretty sure old one fits fine with room to spare......



    Boy I tell you god is so good to me....six months earlier and would of got a truck with POINTS...
    3 months later I would of got one with exploding seat belts.....

    nothin to do with me....just gods grace.....

    I had the belt material replaced, they call it webbing. A company called https://www.safetyrestore.com/ . I think it was around $90 including shipping to them (return shipping is free).
