Ummm I have no idea about it but no way they give you any thing close to what your truck is worth....their "no-haggle" price is never a good deal imho

It was an awsome exprience. They gave me high blue book for my wife's 02 blazer. No questions asked after they did their inspections.

good experience. took my 98 base model tacoma there, i researched the blue book and the best i could get through private seller would have been like 4500, not to mention it wouldn't have passed inspection. carmax gave me 5000 for it, thus lending itself to the '10 reg cab i have now

I got top dollar for a car I sold years ago. They gave me what just about what I should have gotten private party, without the hassle. I also have a buddy who sold his broke down Blazer there just recently, and they gave him more than any dealer was offering for trade, and even more than he could have gotten private party. I have been surprised each time I hear first hand experiences for what they give.

Waste of time. I took my '98 Acura CL to get an estimate and hey only offered me $1400 for it. I got $3000 for it as a trade-in for my Tacoma. Could have sold it for about $3500-$4000 private party. Offering me $1400 for a car in 100% perfect condition was an insult.

They offered me $8k for my 03 4Runner and I used that number to up my trade value at the dealer, who offered me $5k, of course they told to go get that offer and come back. I said ok and will just buy there too, so good bargaining and gives you an idea of what you may get.

I was interested in a Tacoma recently, at Carmax. Took my 07 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited to be appraised. They offered me 11k!! Way low. I sold it 2 weeks later for $16k via Craigslist. Found a nice 06 Certified Pre-owned Taco TRD-OR and the Toyota dealer did an "In & Out" where they handled the transaction for my buyer on my old car... I saved on taxes that way too.

They are kind of in between dealer and private buyers. You will get more selling it privately but at least Carmax will give you an ok appraisal and buy it. Really have nothing to lose because the estimate they give you is good for 7 days, gives you time to think about it and research.

I sold a mazda 3 to them and it was painless. It was a fair price they offered.

it is impossible for a 12-year old car to be 100% perfect condition. you got more on it as the trade in because the dealer was probably baiting your sale.

a kbb "good" condition (which is likely generous) trade-in 4cyl is about 1650 for 100k, 1150 for 150k. the 6cyl is 2100-1500. private-party, good condition, 6cyl, 100k is at $3400. without knowing the exact details, 1400 sounds pretty reasonable for the convenience.

I had a good experience with them. Its pretty simple, take your car there, they'll inspect it and give you a quote. I think you have something like 7 days that the quote is good for. They gave my wife $500 more than any dealer would give her on trade-in. We just took that money and went back to a dealer for the new purchase. If you are having trouble selling it then it's the way to go. They won't give you a ton of money but they won't give you bottom line. It wouldn't hurt to get a quote. Might take an hour or so.

Waste time. Last July of 2009, I had 2006 Subaru Legacy (paid off) with only 39,000. KBB private party was $13,000 at that time. I was trying to sell it and Carmax did inspected my car and show I have clean title. They offer $9000. I was like bullshit, they said they only take offer on trade in value. I am not trade in anything and I am just selling it.

By the way I trade in my 2007 Trailblazer and 2006 Legacy for $11,500 each for my new truck on August 2009. I was upside down on my trailblazer by $8,000. I put down $4000. That was not that bad.

My mom and some friends had some problem with their offer in the past too. That was in Utah. I believe other state will be better or same shit.
