Take tune off for peace of mind. Can’t hurt to try this. Once you know, then you can choose your next steps. I’m sure your OTT guy will gladly help you with this troubleshooting process.

Small vibrations can be very difficult to find. My questions and comments which I hope to be of help:

    * Straight up, the easiest thing to do is re-flash your ECU to stock. Complete a "drive cycle" and observe and report back.
    -----------------------------------------
    * How many miles are on the vehicle? I tend to agree with others here the OTT tune is probably not the issue here. This is supported by their statement, which I assume to be true, that OTT does not adjust idle parameters.

    * Given the above, and depending on mileage (e.g., say you are approaching 90k miles), you could have an unrelated emerging issue that has been previously undiagnosed. Torque converter wear? Misfire? Are you throwing any DTCs? When were your spark plugs last changed?

    * Assuming you have not recently altered the suspension, such as lifting or lowering the truck or installing new wheels or tires, you can generally disregard this. You have not stated such so I would ignore everyone telling you that you have a lift problem.

    * Describe your "mechanic", please. Are you taking your truck to a qualified, ASE-certified, pro level independent shop with lifts and competent techs? This is not the same as your brother in law looking at your truck under his gravel carport, FWIW.

@gord1212 Go ahead and get with your retailer and they will be happy to get a log and we will take a look. As @JustDSM stated there are no idle changes, but many things could be at play. We can flash back to stock, but understand that adaptives will reset, so you will have to be patient to allow the truck to settle back in. Make sure you have enough of the same fuel to drive around a day or so. "Reflashing" the same file you are on will have the same effect, so you can flash the same OTT file again and everything could be smooth as glass and when the truck settles back in it will come back.

If some setting within the calibration was incorrect, every truck will vibrate. That's not the case.

Id put put my money on fuel quality or perhaps a multitude of other things like plugs, vacuum leak, clogged fuel injector or other things. What did your mechanic look at exactly? How did he decide that everything was good.. It will be helpful to see what was looked at to come to that conclusion.

In any event, we are happy to help you diagnose what's wrong with your truck.

    Kind regards,

    John

My truck vibrate slightly when the A/C compressor kicks on. Not sure where you’re at but it’s getting warm here and I’ve been running the A/C.

Only notice it at stop lights and such though not while driving.

Yup, he's already started to help me. The only reason I made this post is because I couldn't find anything remotely close to my issue posted and just wanted to get pointed in the right direction. So far most responses have been helpful.

Hi John, I appreciate this response. My tuner has since reached out and given me a checklist of some items for me to go over. My mechanic stated he didn't find any error codes and checked and cleaned the throttle body "amongst other things" which I didn't get fully explained to me due to getting that call while with a client. I'm really hoping to be able to keep the tune. Any other suggestions about what I can do or even get my mechanic to do will be greatly appreciated.

@gord1212 I'd prefer you let your retailer grab a log of the truck acting as it is now, so we have the data.

After that, start with the easiest and that would be fuel quality. Switch stations and make sure its a Tier 1 / large supplier and not a mom and pop. After that I'd make sure all maintenance is up to date.
Any mods? Did you just change your air filter? Clamp not tight, something get knocked off. Look at the easy fix first as usually, but not always that's where you'll find it.

Had a client a while back call me and say the truck was almost stalling out, bucking on acceleration. Was tuned months prior without issue. Drove an hour to him, pulled the engine cover off and intake boot was off. He installed an intake and didn't get the boot set and clamped correctly. Drove fine for a week after he changed the intake, but popped off and then had issues. Easy fix... I'm not saying this is your problem, but in many cases its something right under our nose.

As always, feel free to contact us directly at info@ if you have specific questions or need more personalized help.

    Kind regards,

    John

Sounds good. I will do this plus the recommendations from my tuner and provide an update. Thanks again John, much appreciated.
