My dealer is currently trying to locate a 2017 Tacoma in my configuration, but after reading all the negative comments on here about the 2016/2017 models and recall issues I'm starting to have second thoughts.

Any current owners regret their decision?

If I could do it again, I wouldn't, I'll leave it at that.

Nope, loving mine so far....7mos and 10k miles later. I haven't had any of the issues that have plagued some of the member here though. I do find the transmission annoying from time to time in certain situations but nothing that makes me regret buying it.

Some do, some don't. Personally I wished I would have gone with a 2nd gen or just rode out my old Ford Ranger a little longer.

The new Ford Ranger is coming out in a year or so and is supposed to have new unique styling (different from the international model) it may also come with a 2.7L ecoboost or diesel to keep up with GM twins.

If you do buy one I say before signing delivery paperwork you ask for an overnight test drive. Of course even then a lot of the issues I've experienced wouldn't have come up on a 2 or 3 day test drive. If you don't NEED to buy right now, I might suggest holding off to see what 2018 or even better 2019 brings.

Love and hate relationship with my truck. If I did it again I would have gotten a double cab. If the ford rangers were out I probably would trade it in. :crapstorm:

If you read this site it will make you think twice. To me, it all depends on what vehicle you are coming from. I came from an 04 Tacoma 4 banger that rode like a tank. This thing feels like I am riding on a cloud and I love it.

You would have to be nuts to take the chance right now. Wait at least one more year. Maybe it'll be great, maybe it'll be your worst nightmare, not worth it. Back away.

This question is like going into a hospital and asking why there's so many sick people around! Add 3rd gen to the picture and we have an outright plague on our hands.

I have a 2016 built in 09/15... one of the first off the line. I have NO problems with my truck and I love to drive it... I even make shit up to go buy at HomeDepot so I can show off around all the contractors in the parking lot..

In fact today I may even go to HD and do some curb flexing... its almost Friday somewhere.

Also keep in mind that most people on here are passionate about their trucks and are probably a lot more keenly aware of every little, or big, thing that goes on with it. The vast majority of owners will never hear, feel, see, taste, smell, etc. any of the issues you read on the site. The will just get in it and drive, completely oblivious to it all.

Not exactly. People here are hypersensitive to their vehicles true, but consumer reports has it ranked worst in its category because of reliability. That is based on mostly average people's surveys.

I love mine. As I see it there are a hand full of naysayers that love to stir the pot around here and claim they know it all, but you'll figure out who they are soon enough. Good luck with your decision!
